Hi I am having some problems with my routine at the moment my routine is twice a day once in the morning and then once before bed, I only use dig stim and this seems to be taking it out on my bottom with hemeroids and swelling around that area although i use lubrication it still causes the soreness i am glad that i can't feel it lol because some times it looks like a baboons bum I have been using medication for the piles but can I ask if there is any thing I could ask my GP for that would enable me to use dig stim less and let it happen abit more naturally to give it a little rest from poking around down there?

Have you thought about trying Peristeen? you just need your doctor or continence clinic to refer you and then Coloplast will arrange for one of their own nurses to come and see you at home. You could be up and running in a matter of days. There are loads of threads on here about Peristeen so I'm sure you can find all the information you need.

On a personal level peristeen is one of my best friends - I use it in the morning and I know I will have an accident free day.

I've just responded to the advertisement in my magazine. Thank you for the clarity of your posting. I guess that you have to regularize how much you drink. What you think your daily intake is for the best results? Do you have to be in the sitting position? Were You Happy with The nurse sent Peristeen?

Silone,

Why do you do BM twice a day? It is very rare among SCI . Mouth to exit time is increased two to three times compared to when you were AB.
Do you take any laxative?
Have you got constipation?
Is it possible to change it to once a day or better every other day. After two times a day don't piles don't have enough time for rest and shrink.
I also have piles but I have BM every other day and have no problems.

To give better advice the questions above must be answered.

If your bum looks like a baboons when you're done you might be inducing a prolapsed bowel. If this is the case just gently exert pressure on your anus after doing the business and you should feel it gradually go back. Once in place hold your hand on it for about a minute and you should feel your anus ring tighten up.

I've used suppositories for 33 years and have the above issue - good luck in any event.

They make tons of medication to make it softer and easier to manually empty! Or you could be taking too much iron, which would make it harder to get out! I go morning and night as well and had a sore and my mom tried everything on the wound. Aloe vera plant works very well or you could try hemorrhoid cream. If you haven't already! There's always the wound doctors who will definitely clear it up. You don't want it to get too bad. Or you might be looking at surgery or hell in the hospital stay! I would say see a doctor about it immediately. Not only about the wound but about the process of emptying your bowels without causing more wounds.
Imagine what I do when I need to laugh or feel better. Imagine a purple hippo standing up straight wearing pink clown shoes and juggling lime green Jell-O squares!

What about a suppository? I do my routine, actually my nurse's aide does, every morning. I usually have no issues. Lately I have though because of pain medication and it's causing my bowel to get backed up. I tried doing a routine both morning and nights and it helped evacuate what I needed to and bring my stomach back to its relatively normal size. If you are not having problems like these or something else I might not be thinking of, I don't know why he would have to go twice a day? That seems a little excessive.
If you don't try, you fail.
