Hi Everyone,

I'm Ali (T12 Paraplegic) and for a long time, I wondered how I would cope if I became a Mum one day......to cut a long story short, my daughter Sarah is 4 years old now and the experiences of being a Mum is every bit as wonderful as I had hoped.
I have set up a website www.parentsinwheelchairs.com to share my experiences. Please take a look...

Wishing you all the best,

Ali

Ali I have just had a look at your website - its fantastic, I used to be an antenatal teacher and it looks like a fantastic resource not just for parents but health professionals as well.

I watched the video where you tell your birth story, it sounded like the perfect birth - my own water baby has just turned 18 so enjoy your little one now, she will be grown up before you know it.

Thank you Julia.....it's been work in progress for ages and now just seemed to be the right time to let it off the leash.....I never even considered that it could be useful for health professionals.
You're right about time slipping by - Sarah is already 4 yrs old and we are facing the prospect of her starting school in September.....Oh my word!
I hope you are well and thanks again for your message.
Best wishes,
Ali

Hi Alie

I just Found your website , thank you it has helped with lots of questions.

I am about to become a Granny in a wheelchair (for the fourth time, but this one only lives 25 minutes away ) and am hoping to be able to be very hands on and look after this baby on my own sometimes to help out. I am sure I will work out ways to do things but you have certainly helped and given me some more confidence.

Thank you !

Ali,

Hi!! I am really thrilled that you are doing this! I just killed a lot of time watching your videos. They are very good! I am a T10 incomplete from an infection in my spinal cord, and like you, found that the web is full of guys in chairs but not as many women, and specifically, mommies. I have 6 children ages 2-12 so Mommy is my favorite name!:)

I got very sick when I was 5 months pregnant with my last baby and woke up paralyzed from the waist down. That was on March 12, 2009. My baby was my main concern at that time and I just wanted him to be okay. He was and is now an ornery 2 year old who I adore and thank God for every day. I know that my sickness could have killed him, or me and so I am very thankful for what I have (even though it took a part of me).

I also started a website for education and so people could learn a little more about life with spinal cord damage. It is www.aliciareagan.com. I would love to be able to connect with you!

Hi Alicia,
Thank you so much for your post and your kind words.
Oh my word.........6 children!!??!!?? Respect!

So happy to hear that both you and your son survived your illness - it's early days for you I guess but it sounds like you're doing really well.

I love your website and your blog - keep up the good work and stay in touch,
Best wishes,
Ali x
