I left the rehab hospital with a rickety plastic shower bench that Ive been using for about a year now. It is wobbly and uncomfortable and feels unsafe. I have a standing shower stall in my apartment, so I can't use the kind of shower chair that lays over the top of a bath tub, which is a shame because I saw a really nice one in an accessible hotel room that I'd love to have. I also can't bolt anything to the wall because it's a one piece shower unit that wont hold a screw and would leak.

Any ideas? What do you guys use?

i have a large roll in shower that has no door just a glass brick wall and and wide opening.

i use an activeaide shower wheelchair. it allows me to wheel myself into the shower and also over the toilet.
hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

I use a free way, self propelling shower chair, but I also have a roll in wet room rather than a shower unit! I came across this style of showering bench of which or may not give you any help. shower bench
Everything will be alright in the end, if it's not alright then it's not the end!

a quantum http://www.allterrai...productid=16764 these are the gold standard of shower benches. yes, it's expensive, but they last at least 15 years, depending on how rambunctiously you shower. :) the pvc pipe is genius because it doesn't rust. a paraplegic in kansas designed and sells these, and if you contact him directly and are paying out of your own pocket and not insurance, he will often discount it some. he did for me anyway. insurance won't buy these as far as i know.

and if you're an older injury like me, i suggest a pack-it roho or even a low profile one in addition to the already padded seat. i have become bonier over time and need the extra protection.

i can't see anyone being unhappy with this chair. i've used a couple of different types and nothing compares.

I have the one that insurance gave everyone. One-size-fits-all and when I get in it I am immediately in pain a lot of pain! So I said screw it! So I get bed baths!

A Freeway T70 shower/toilet chair with arms that flip up out the way on pivots and a seat modified with a side cut rather than one at the front since I don't have the flexibility except to my left side.

I don't use a shower chair as i hate the things, plus they take up so much room. I use a padded fold down seat attached to my shower room wall.

Knightrider, can you post a picture of your seat? I need to have something done to my shower and this sounds interesting.

I'd like to see it too... Right now we're having issues because my fiance's shower bench is so bulky for the tiny bathroom that we have and we can't remodel it at this moment so looking for an alternative that would fit sounds very interesting :)
