Hi everyone

My brother (complete C2) has just been fitted with a pace-maker which they hope to start activating as soon as he recovers from the operation.

Is there anyone out there who breathes with one? Anyone who can give me some further info on what to expect? Or to explain a bit about how he will learn to use it?

Can he expect to be weaned off the vent in time?

Many thanks for any replies.

The Doctors wanted to put pacer pads on my husband diaphragm a week after his accident but he managed to start breathing on his own( they told us he was a C3-4 complete at the begining). C1-2 is a really high. How long has it been since his injury?

Hi thanks for replying
His accident was in August, and now he is able to breathe on the pacemaker for around half an hour a day.
Yes, it is a high injury which is why we are so desperate for is to work so he can at least be without the vent for some hours in the day.
