I've been thinking of moving, been here too long. I would like to find a place that is cripple friendly, and easy to get around. I have a trust fund that pays all my bills and I can live anywhere I choose, but I just don't know where to go. I wish there was a cripple nation or island for crips I could go to be with my own kind. I would like to be around just cripples to cut up and get into trouble. I have considered maybe moving to England but I'm thinking I would not make a good Brit, or well recieved there as I am pretty set in my ways and tend to cause a lot of trouble at times. I can't help myself, it just happens. Anyone got any suggestions? I might make a fine Canadian or Australian maybe?

Guess it's time for you to do some traveling.

My two favorite places ever visited, New Orleans and Thailand. VISITED, is the operative word . . . . I don't think I could live in EITHER place, especially for the humidity.

I found canada really easy re the chair and getting access to thing.
Citys in the uk are ok but there is no access to many things in the countryside

Where not to go becuase its very hard:
Dubroknik in crotia - walled city, cobbles everywhere
mostar in bosnia as below but less craters
sajaviro in bosnia - craters, steps, uneven

If you can afford it go and travel about, see what is available to do where

Iraq, you might not like it there too much but it will learn you to keep your mouth shut and get into less trouble ;-)

I just moved from California to Florida. I originally picked Orlando, but a bit too far from the Ocean. I am now residing in Jacksonville. So far I have found that Jacksonville has a very active community with many adaptive sports and recreation activities. Here is the connect to their facebook page so you can see for yourself. So far, I am enjoying all the activities. However, I do miss the California climate.

If you are considering California, San Diego has a really large adaptive sports and recreation community too.

Hi rollingtrouble

Recently some organization (forget which right now) named three cities in the USA as the most bicycle friendly. Based on your profile info, it would seem bicycle friendly could equate to wheelchair friendly. The cities are Davis CA, Portland OR, and Boulder CO.

I live about 10 miles from Davis CA and, if you like to travel the bike trails, it is one fine city. It is in the Sacramento Valley which is one of the flattest places on earth. No snow; it rains in the winter when we are lucky; very hot in the summer.

If you like night life, Davis is a university town and only 20 miles from Sacramento, the capital. It is also only about 80 miles from San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean if you need some natural air conditioning in the summer.

Re gimps; no there aren't very many or we just don't get out much.

I am planning on doing a thread to recommend Davis as a vacation spot in May. Soon.

I moved strictly for weather and ended up in AZ but they do have a big program in phx but I far from there. I have never seen so many people in wheelchairs in my life. AZ is loaded with crips. I would have liked Florida better for access, east coast attitude and better food but the weather was more important to me.

think warm, RT, go somewhere the weather is nice....for sure, thinking on buying me a summer home and get away from the winters up here in tn., but we haven't even had a winter here this year, knock on wood........
