Hello,
I had one done by a very good urologist in the early 80s. Being able to achieve an erection I asked if any chance of it effecting the erection? She told me I'll be making a tiny cut, just enough to weaken the muscle to make voiding easier, and I'll be cutting at either the left & right side ( she said 3 o'clock 9 o'clock ) or ( 6 o'clock & 12 o'clock ) so Not to effect the erection. Wish I could remember! I'd be sure to ask if your concerned about being able to achieve an erection afterwards!
Good Luck !

Also in the early '80s, I had a conservative cut at 12 o'clock. It improved flow for some time but didn't solve my problem of pressure on the kidneys. Apparently, it had regrown over (as expected) but they decided to do a bladder augmentation which has been fantastically successful. Fortunately, the bladder sphincter had repaired itself so sufficiently that for the last 20 years I've being doing intermittant catheters with never a worry of leakage in between.
