From time to time I get really horrible skin sensations that are very uncomfortable and often difficult to live with. The first one is that I feel as if I have spiders crawling up my legs. Urghhh! The second sensations is even more uncomfortale in that by skin on my legs oftens feels as if Ive burnt myself. You know if you burn yourself on the oven for instance? Its very sore and tender but there isnt any physical signs of soreness its just a sensation.

Is this typical of being incomplete? I wonder if anyone else has what I call phantom feelings? Its usually lasts a day or 2 and then goes again

My husband gets pains like that as well. He's C5/6 incomplete. The doctor says it neorogenic pain ( not sure how to spell that) ie fantom pain. He is now taking afer being recommended by 3 doctors Amitriptyline.

Its a very mild anti depresent that they should years ago, but it is now used for the above problem and it also helps spasms. He also started taking it as he has never had a full nites sleep in 2 years and this help relax him and he sleeps a bit better now. Thankfully.

The pain went a way quickly and is a great relieve as that was the pain problem of him not sleeping.

Hope this is of help

I get that as well...i always have the burning pain in my legs and back and although it's not nice you learn to live with it but when it flares up into that burning, feel like your on fire type of pain it's a bit harder to cope with!! i find this only happens to me if i've been doing really something really active :drive: it's nice to know that your not the only person out there that has to deal with this type of pain!

I also have the burning sensation from my point of injury down my legs. I have been taking amitriptyline HCL (elavil) for the last eight years and have not had any side effects. It does help you to fall asleep so make sure you take it at night. It is the one medication that I can not live without. I started with 100 mg. and have cut it back to 50 mg.

Oh yes!!. Pins & needles etc. Sometimes feels as if my bums on fire. I don't take any medication though. Simply keeping myself busy during the day with work and whatever else I put my mind to somehow makes these sensations "disappear"......guess I'm just lucky.
Some of the blokes at our sports club really battle with phantom pains and swear by the medication they take.
