Two new accessible facilities have opened up on Maui because of the stimulus package for shovel ready projects. The first is the Kealia Pond Bird Sanctuary which is a National Park just opened up their new Interpretive Center and it is great. This facility along with the Kealia Pond Boardwalk gives the National Park a much better presence on island and raises the profile of the endangered birds and also lets the general population access. Since it is a federal facility the accessibility is great. The boardwalk and Interpretive center are located in different parks of the park so you must drive between them. I'll be adding the Interpretive Center to my website.
The second facility upgrade effects me and my renters even more directly. They are just finishing re-doing the Maalaea Harbor which is just a 1/2 mile down the road. The old harbor had lots of broken pavement and was getting run down so a walk around the harbor wasn't enjoyable or safe. They poured concrete to replace the asphalt and upgraded all the services including the lighting. The interaction with the boats and ocean are easy and fun. A new restaurant is supposed to open up this month down there also.
My summer is almost all booked with an opening July 17, 2012 to July 31, 2012 and then August 25, 2012 to October 17, 2012 so if anyone is interested in coming to Maui or has questions about Maui check out my website at www.mauiaccessiblecondo.com or e-mail me at info@mauiaccessiblecondo.com Aloha Bruce
