This is a quote from another thread that I had missed until Pat commented on it (Thanks Pat).

, just when my DTI is about 1/4 of it's starting size our good old medicare is discontinuing my wound-vac; yeah just as it's getting close to healed...March 26th was my 4yr mark, mostly in bed, messing with bedsores. No second opinion is gonna help me, perhaps a final appeal idk; knida giving up mentally.

Did I read that right? Our Jerry who has always been in there giving encouragement and support to practically everyone on this board is giving up on himself?

Oh no you don't Mister!! Not while we've got anything to do with it! You have given far too much to so many of us, for us to let you sink now. (That's a horrible sentence, I know, but it happens to be true.)

Your struggle with pressure sores has been epic, and one that none of us would have coped with nearly as well as you have. It's been a bitch, but with just a little bit of luck you could be near to beating it once and for all.

As Pat suggested, get someone else to do the fighting for you for a while and give yourself a break from it. There must be a way to get the bean counters to see the idiocy of stopping your treatment now, when closure of the wound is so close.

Whatever else you do Jerry, please don't even consider giving up the struggle to get back out there, with your camera in hand, among the flowers. Please.

Geoff...I'm good, no worries mate :)
Just tired of the BS...got the news on Wednesday...was just frustrated.
The wound is less than a cm deep; can wet-to-dry it if necessary...it will just take longer...WTF.
My doc heard about this yesterday; he's out shootin pics with a few of my lenses, and is not happy with medicare; with any luck he'll get the vac continued...

As Jim said there's nascar n nhra today..
Had eggs, toast n bacon in bed this morn...

I'll be rollin fer a bit later...love those sittin up hugs...Linda's hips n all...kinda make me forget about me arse :D

Thnx for the note mate, and the kind words all...never surrender!

Hey Jerry, hope your doctor is able to bully medicare into continuing your wound vac. it seems like a really stupid and dangerous decision on their part to even think about stopping your wound vac. Medicare can be so backwards these days and are way too desperate to try and cut corners in every situation they feel they can.. It sucks..

Hang in there though.

Hi Jerry,

I hope you feel better soon. And know I've been in bed two weeks as of tomorrow. The end is closer than we think. I'm around if you need a random cyber person you can always say not-so-happy stuff and not worry about offending.

Jerry,
Its obvious that you Have Many people who Care about you by seeing this greybeard Guy who very Few ever heard of, informing us that your Feeling Down.
Please try to reach Deep inside yourself to Harness your inner Strength ( The inner Strength that us SCI's posses,) and Too Often Need to find the little things in Life that make us smile, lol, Give us the power to open our eyes to yet another day we expect will be as Bad as the day before. We don't know it will or sure!
We're a Rare Species that are Very often at our Best when things are at their Worst!
Yes I'm a Stranger to you. who's words you can toss aside, as who's he to think he knows anything about what I'm going through? "I Don't!" But you can open your eyes and try to muster the strength to cause one person to Smile Today, and consider your day complete for having done so, as I do.

Ok, My over tired, Drug & Alcohol impaired, Depressed Brain has rambled on here long enough Struggling to find the words that might cause you to Smile so I can say "My day is Complete!"

Closing my eyes now and adding you to my Prayers! :D

Ps. Who's this greybeard Guy who doesn't even have a beard? That's Weird!!!

She's a strange and challenging road you are taking, jerry. I love you for the way you handle the frustration and wish you well with this current test. Full marks for the obviously close relationship you have with your doctor. I reckon you are on track for a positive outcome.

Aww Jerry, you sent me kind words when I was struggling recently and I thank you for that, with your experience there is not much I can say but you know these feelings come and go both sunny ones and rainy day ones. Beauty of living where you do the rainy day ones should be few and far between!!! So get out and enjoy some rays my friend, time will pass and you'll get out to enjoy a lot more, you know it's true.
All my best wishes and vibes,

Surprise today, this morning...my regular wound care nurse and the RN that have been with me these 4yrs, my doctor and my foot doctor all showed up; was not expecting them all, only my foot doctor...they all looked me over, took pictures and will be recommending the wound-vac continues; everyone commented 'not while its healing so well will we stop the vac healing you'...medicare doesn't have an option now...unless congress enacts a speshul no-vac-4-jerry amendment...so cross fingers all the paperwork/pictures will convince and another month or two of this arse bein healed will occur...I'll keep ya'll posted!

Thank you all for your support

My wound vac is no more, the good news is that my rather large hole in me bottom is much smaller. Even tho it's not completely healed, there is little drainage and the tissue looks in great healthy shape. A few tubes of medical grade manuka honey (and one jar for me toast..thanks Nomis) are on there way from New Zealand...will be using it to finish up this long journey of wound care.

I'll let you all know how things are going, there will be more pictures, perhaps some poetry and a blog post soon...I'll be rolling twice a day now to start my rehab; weight training, get myself back into shape!

Seeya Later :)

That is most excellent news Jerry, a long road but I hope now the end is in sight.
MMMMMmmmmmmmm a Manuka honey coated slice of toast, Nom, Nom.
As that was being smeared on my bum I always wondered how it would taste. Please let me know, even a picture to make me salivate!

Great to hear you are healing so well - you can add manuka honey to your drinks as well, lovely with a slice of orange, a slice of lemon in hot water with a good dollop of honey.
