More than half a million Apple computers have been infected with the Flashback Trojan, according to a Russian anti-virus firm.

A investigation by Dr Web suggests that about 600,000 Macs have installed the malware - potentially allowing them to be hijacked and used as a "botnet".

It says that more than half that number are based in the US.

Apple has released a security update, but users who have not installed the patch remain exposed.

I have been keeping my Mac updated so I hope I am ok; I wonder if it was infected as it was running a bit slow for a while!
If I fall out of my wheelchair in the woods would anybody hear me?

It only affects OSX not iOS.

You can check your mac by following these instructions: http://www.f-secure....ashback_i.shtml

With the new found popularity come renewed interest of cyber buttholes. This one, tho,, appears to at least have an interesting reason to exist,, unlike other worms/ viruses,, that are only there for amusement or destruction. Not that I believe these hackers to be altruistic, in the least.

Maybe, did you wind it up all the way and put water in the tank?

Just double click the Terminal application in your Utilities folder, and follow the instructions in the link above.

Wow!!! I just felt like I was at the clinic for a moment there waiting to see if I had any STI'S, but once again a big SIGH of relief "I'M CLEAN NO INFECTIONS WOO HOOO"!!! Now I have a serious question, where can I download a virtual condom to protect my Mac from this virus? Yes, I know it was a great way to ask, but I'm serious I need to know how to get some free protection for my Mac! Just like my condoms I don't like paying for my computer protection either, that's why I got one of these expensive ass machines!!!
