Becca82,
My wife took a look. "Wow, he's cute!" I guess she approves. I do not think he looks all that much different now! Maybe he is not doing such high maintenance on his hair now. Join the club! I cut it every couple to six months whether I need it or not and that is about it! I take it all off in the summer. No comb, no brush and yes I do have hair on the sides. If it gets a little long, I just flatten it with my hand. Same with my beard. When it bothers me, then I cut it. I go for as low maintenance as possible in order to concentrate on the real problems. It will not matter to the real friends or loves if your hair is a little out of place! You would not believe how much time I save in a year not fussing over my hair! Really! Some people spend as much as 1/8 of their awake time fussing over their hair so I heard. Sorry about my crusade…

Juless,
Posting pics has been written up several times but briefly, if the pics do not come out probably either your picture is too big (too many pixels total) or too wide or too high in pixels. If it is there will be a short message displayed in red on top indicating the error when you post. That is about it assuming you can basically navigate around well enough to get the <URL> off the net or browse to it in your PC. Wherever the pic resides you need to indicate it to the forum software. The forum will then indicate that the address where the picture resides has been attached but not posted. You can attach more than one pic this way by repeating the process. After you are done selecting pics, you need to check the box telling the forum software you want to picture actually attached to the reply. That is about it briefly. Keep trying and preview the posting to see if it has been attached before you finally post your reply. Don’t give up!

I hope I have helped,

The way to add pics straight from the authority (Apperalized) is on page one of this thread, on the second posting. I cannot describe it any better than he can. Cut and paste his directions on your note pad (or any editor you use) and then print it if you have to. I am old school as you can see. I cannot get used to this paperless society.

Hi everyone!

I’m new to this site so, I’m not sure if I’m doing this right. I was in a car accident a month before my 16th birthday and wish I knew about this forum when I was discharged from hospital all those years ago. Definitely wouldn’t have felt like such a mis-fit and could’ve avoided a lot of uncomfortable situations by reading some of the posts on this site...

Thanks to every single one of you... without even realising it, you've changed my life for the better.

Tamzim,
Another pretty face!
Ditto on this forum.
How are the facilities for SCI in South Africa or are you just sensory impaired C6-7?
If so you are very fortunate.

Hiya Radar,

The facilities for SCI in SA are pretty good. The Spinal Unit I was admitted to after my injury was excellent and I haven't yet come across any places that are not wheelchair friendly. The only problem I've encountered thus far, is that the tables in restaurants are usually not high enough for my wheelchair to go underneath.

I think public transport (or rather the lack thereof) for wheelchair users is probably the biggest hurdle here, for even though our Employment Equity Act ensures that there are more job opportunities for the disabled, most of us aren't fortunate enough to have our own transport. Lucky for me, my daddy doesn't mind being my chauffer... don't know what I'll do without him!

Hi Tamzin,
I thought I saw on TV that the surf in South Africa is among the best next to Hawaii or am I all mixed up? That is one of the things I really miss, body surfing...just you and the ocean...nothing else required.

In your profile, by sensory incomplete you mean some sensory function, with little or no motor nerves functioning. Is that not right? Being a little dyslexic I get easily mixed up. It is either that or all the drugs I am on. I myself have some very spotty sensory return down to my chin and calf asymmetrically (S2-3, not sure). My biggest issue is that the sensory return around L3 (I have an L1 burst fracture) has led to a lot of nerve pain. At times I cannot sit when the nerves in the back of my thigh go nuts. For the same reason I cannot have any electrical stimulation to help move the muscles or the legs. It would be extremely painful, excruciatingly so I have been told.

It is a mystery why some nerves cause problems and others do not.

Radar,

You're right - the surf in SA is among the best! Durban, Cape Town, East London and Port Elizabeth have awesome surf spots with great swell. You should check out www.wavescape.co.za some time…

My sense of touch is almost 100% (so much so that I can feel when an ant is walking on my legs)but I cannot differentiate between hot or cold and have no motor nerves funtioning below my level of injury. So sorry to hear about your nerve pain - wish the mystery of SCI can be unravelled soon!

Here are a couple of pictures of my girlfriend, Monika, and I when she came to visit me in Queensland for 12 MAGIC days. She had posted a pic of us together a page or two back, so since she made the effort I thought that I had better too!

Monika is one hell of a lady and I am soooooo glad that I can share my time with her!

All the best you great looking bunch,

Oh god, don't say you're tooooooo hot! Had to get my van towed out of the snow on Friday night - I was stuck in it for 3 hours with no engine or heating & was flippin cold. Then we got stuck in the snow again at the end of our drive. The only thing that came up our lane was a Hummer!

Snow has all melted today - apart from the huge snowman we made.

Nice to meet you Jeremy!

I realise this is almost 7 months later and I hope all is well. I just wanted to say (after showing my missus this site tonight) when she saw your picture her reaction was "Wow! Cool - Metal dreads!"
I hope that is cool with you. Good luck

Yes mary it was my wedding day. May28th 2005. Jenni, took quite a few hours but they aint finished yet either. The big one hurt alot over the colar bone like a pain ive never felt before but funny you think when your getting a tattoo im not getting another but you tend to forget the pain till next time. Tattoos are addictive i think, lol. Heres a piccy of another of my hobbies, of roading. Im also into hotrodding in a bigway.
