My beautiful wife Carol is a C5/C6 Quadriplegic. Six years ago she gave birth to our wonderful son, D'arcy. Carol works really hard to create a great life for D'arcy, but like all mums I guess she feels inadequate some times, especially now as he is starting to grow independent and question her injury. Mothers Day in Australia is Sunday, May 13, and I think it would be great if some other mums with SCI could give her a shout. I've set up a page on facebook, "Mum on Wheels", and if you say hello, Happy Mothers Day, and share a little about yourself that would be fantastic. We don't know any other Mums in wheelchairs, so it would be nice to connect with some. Please have a look, check out the album, and, as I'm not that tech-savvy, reply here if I'm doing something stupid. Thank you all, and Happy Mothers Day.

Hi - have a look at this great, friendly and helpful group: http://www.facebook....01391493240244/ Parents in Wheelchairs and also this lovely website http://www.parentsinwheelchairs.com/ which is also set up by the same person.

One of those who has done it because it needed doing - doesn't charge but offers lots.

These challenges of life and value and feelings of inadequacy are there for all of us - AB and disabled. Those that don't feel it generally aren't life's thinkers or creative people - ignorance is bliss, etc.. But the hardest challenges are the things that make us face and overcome, and this ultimately leads us to a more fulfilled life. With Kitten on the way, I guess I'll face these issues somewhen down the line, but from what I've read, it's all very normal, and one has to remember that the child is facing the same challenges, but without the confidence and experience of age. Hratch always used to say "patience" to me and "leave it alone". It used to drive me to distraction. But I get it a little more these days, and when I feel up against the world, often I have to stop and go back to the basics of what I have learned, break problems down into bite-size chunks, keep busy doing what needs to be done, and it always passes. I'm hoping that keeping an honest and open relationship with your child will be the answer. If they feel able to articulate the problem - even if you are the problem - will allow everyone to work through it, and come out stronger. Not easy, but do-able,

Good luck with it. And great that she has your support. Marriage is definitely a team game!

Mother's Day in the U.S. is the same day.

HAPPY Mother's Day!

You know there is an area HERE specifically for parents in wheelchairs. I've got 4 myself. And there are a # of us with kids on this site.....so anytime she's feeling down or unsure.....just give a shout out & we'll come running.....OK...ROLLING!

Hi guys, no Carol is not a member of the forum. That's one reason I set up the fb page, I thought it might inspire her to reach out a bit more. Thanks for posting there,
