dont get me wrong this cushion is doing its job well i just want a more firmer/stable cushion, is a supracore stimulite a all one piece cushion, like a block of sponge so to speak?
Have a look round their website: http://www.google.co...HWqsSrKVbormslg

I left the hospital with just a foam cushion....but this was back in 1990 when "egg crate" shaped foam additions were the OOH LA LA thing.....obviously the ART of arse protection has improved significantly.
I've had a few different kinds; the 1st being just a foam square....did OK but I did end up with a few MINOR sores (a # of "bruising" that would stay for hrs after I'd stopped sitting, a couple of spots about the size of a pimple that broke the skin), with my foam/gel combo we had one particularly humid summer where I ended up with an EXTRA crack in my butt crack which is the only one that has actually landed me on any sort of "bed rest" or time limits on how long I was allowed to sit up & was caused by poor air circulation.
There are a lot of different makers of cusions AND wheelchairs & each make several different models.....so it really depends on YOUR needs & unfortunatly on what kind of funding you can come up with (some insurance companies are willing to spend more than others + how much EXTRA $ you may be able to come up with).
*Wheelchairs are made of a special ocular magnetic alloy......they're "eyeball magnets".*
*I USE a wheelchair, that does NOT make ME a wheelchair!*

In rehab I had a Jay2 which was fine but heavy.
When just after discharge I was reevaluated and got a new chair that fitted I was able to get a Jay Active gel cushion which I liked as it was a gel pocket where you sit but foam around and particularly at the front when you transfer - just as you mention.
I felt like I was slopping around after a while so managed to get a change to a Jay Easy, similar to an active but the front part is sculpted to help keep your thighs in the correct place which I like.
I had a sore on my but in January (not the cushions fault - Airplane seat!) and I was provided with a low profile (2") Roho standard air cushion. First of all it felt like I was at sea since I was not corralled as I had been in the "Easy" but now I've got used to it I really quite like it. I can use either quite comfortably so for now no need to look for a change.
I did ask a similar question my self a while ago and really liked the look of the cushion Trinity uses as I travel a fair bit and punctures of the air or gel pad were a concern but her cushion was made up of lots of independent cells so you can adjust how many you want and, - A Vicair I think.
Good luck on your search but be careful this is in my opinion one of the single most important purchases you will ever make! Do not scrimp on the cost, if you can afford a better cushion then go for it.

The Jay cushions - Easy and Active are good for that, the only thing I would have liked to change on them would to have made the actual foam thinner by say 10 to 15 mm which would lower the profile of the cushion. They give you more stability I think when pushing around quickly or turning sharply etc. Would be my choice to have a low profile less than 50mm, gell pouch or well filled with the vicair triangular cells, and the front of the foam base curved to hold my thighs on place. Probably find someone makes it and it's really expensive!!i heard ROHO were "the rolls royce of cushions" and ive seen how much they are, i wouldnt scrimp when it comes to my well being, i would just like a nice cushion mainly because of the transferring thing something with abit firmness to it, i know i cant just get a block of sponge and be ok but maybe something inbetween

Just so you know "ROHO" is actually like saying "I drive a Chevy.", it's the MAKE. MY ROHO is a "ROHO Quattro HP (High Profile), which is a bunch of air cells that can be inflated or deflated to suite the user's needs.

Understood. In fact, I drove a Chevy once. I don't remember what kind of Chevy it was and it really doesn't matter, I just remember that I wasn't impressed. Most of us men are like that though, the details don't really matter. If you own a truck no one cares if its a 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton, an extended or super cab, a gas or deisel engine. It's either a Ford, a Chevy or a Dodge.
I have no idea what kind of ROHO I tried, to me they are all cushions made of multiple, adjustable pressure air cells.... ;)

It's just that in my experience, it is very unusual to see somebody of your injury level using/prescribed with a roho cushion (at least in the UK) unless they have very bad skin problems.
Incidentally, I left hospital in 1995 on a Jay 2, have used a Jay active since but have been using a Varilite Evolution for the past 10-11 years or so.

I m using roho but though it releases pressure from my butt, if i sit for 30 min without moving it gets wet due to heat & moisture.(as our weather is above 30 degrees major times)
if some one can recommend me cusion which can solve my problem..
Please try water cushion and above that use terrycloth and sit on it. I can sit up to 3hrs

Justbeingme - did you attend a spinal injuries unit after your injury and if so did they assess that you needed a roho cushion?
