Date: Friday 18 May 2012
On Friday 18th May 2012 it will be Spinal Injuries Awareness Day. You can help us to raise awareness of the results of a spinal cord injury and the great work of the spinal cord injury charities throughout the UK to help people paralysed as a result of a broken neck or back. Tell everyone you know about this date and directing them to our website and the websites of the various spinal injury charities.
Spinal Injuries Awareness Day is coordinated by Spinal Injuries Together (SIT) – Aspire, Backup, Spinal Research and Spinal Injuries Scotland. This year SIT has decided on the theme of “staying active”. On the 18th there will be stands in all the Spinal Cord Injury Centres in the UK with representatives from the SIT charities providing details about their services, alongside information from other local and national organisations that can help SCI people keep healthy and active in mind and body.
Why not take this opportunity to raise funds for your chosen spinal cord injury charity. You could hold an event such as a coffee morning, cake sale, fancy dress party, car wash or dress down day at work. Or you could do something physical – you could run, cycle, walk, swim, bike or hike – whatever is a challenge for you!
