Hey everyone, I just wanted to share with you our good news that my daughter was 18 yesterday!! Both my husband and i are incomplete paraplegics, we met in lodgemoor hospital (Sheffield England) in 1990. We were told that we probably wouldn't have children, we went through a period of wondering and hoping, trips to the doctors with "samples" and even info on donors. Then realised we must just try and get on with our lives and stop worrying. Well not long after this i discovered that i was pregnant, it was such wonderful news, but we had to do about 5 tests to make sure!
Anyway we had a beautiful baby girl, born naturally, ( i was really worried about this i had read all the books on paraplegic pregnancies! causing my midwife to scream blue murder at me! and i also had my hospital bag packed by week 30 because according to the books most paraplegics have their babies 10 weeks early!) Well she has just turned 18, and we also have another beautiful daughter born 22 months after our first baby, she is now 16. Thanks for reading this... Wendi :)

That's wondeful!

Small world, I was also hurt in 1990. Funny you should mention paras going into labor early....baby #2 was @ 31.5wks, but I never knew there were books specific to post SCI & pregnancy.

Fantastic! Lovely to hear about your daughter's 18th! Always good to hear the happy stories on here. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I believe the body is more susceptible than we give it credit. Creating a relaxed mental state within does seem to lead to some great things.

great minds think alike. i also have a 16 and 18 year old daughter and i'm a quad and carried both kids post injury.
hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!
