I decided to start pushing laps out on the university track, partly to lose that last 10 pounds but mostly because it's hot out and there are chicks running. I noticed after a mile that I was having significant pain in my hands and wrists from the strain/over extention. I thought about those wrist splints but I think those metal plates will limit movement too much. I want to figure out a way to get some support around them because it's clear they'll give out way before anything else does. It actually feels like I tore something between my middle and ring fingers and it is slowing me down today. Any other quads got any good tricks for partially imobilizing your hands and wrists?

Thanks in advance....

Tim

Find a hot Physio student and see if they need some strapping practice..
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me, "Smile and be happy, things could be worse." So I smiled and was happy and behold things did get worse.

No doubt, but they may be too busy playing sports to hang out on this forum. Might try calling some wheelie ball clubs?

Maybe someone at the U of Missouri knows something. They run a wheelchair B-ball camp for teens.

Hey,

I would suggest cutting back a bit and work more gradually up to where you want to be, I learnt the hard way too as I did exactly the same but went for pushes round my block. RSI (repetitive strain injury) is not uncommon with many things even using a mouse so any increase in pushing, especially as you have suddenly started an exercise regime and will be full of gusto, where there will be a tendency to up the anti too suddenly, will have an impact on your muscles and tendons.

I Googled wrist strengthening exercises http://www.physioadv...ehabilitati.htm no doubt you lads will come up with alternative suggestions, ahem, but treat it as you would any other sport that you must train for i.e strengthen muscles by doing a range of supplementary exercises to improve performance and protect your ligaments, tendons and joints.

PUMP IT UP!

Hope this helps
