Can someone tell me how long it takes to recover from flap surgery? A dear friend has just had surgery today and I thought he said he would be in hospital for about a month, but someone has just told me it is likely to be 4 months.

Hi to all........I'm back!!!

About the flap surgery.how long it will take the recovery. It depends on the healling process of the person and the cooperation.He/she need to follow the instruction of the doctor and nurses.Specially the positioning of the body.Which needs to avoid the flap site for some pressure on it.It's so important to be off to that side, coz if it's not,the healing is affected.He/she need more to be patient and cooperative.

Hello,

I had a flap done 2 years ago. The total time it took for me to be at full strength was 4 months. I am a c6 total quad. They put me on a hill rom clinitron "rite-hite" bed from the day I was admitted. These beds are fantastic!. They are way more than just an "air" bed. I have been laid-up a couple times since then and I fight for a clinitron every time. They (the hospital) can justify the bed with my diagnosis (c6).

The best thing is not to have to turn all the time. Take a look at the pdf attchment. I would tell your friend to fight hard for this bed. It really is great! I sound like a hill rom salesmen. I just realized that there is no way to attach a pdf. Here's a link. I hope it helps. Ihope these linkjs work. I'm new to posting in forums and such. This is really the first forum I have vested any effort into.

Just scrolled down and saw the file attachment utility. This has not been a good night. Again, I hope you get something out of all this mess. God Bless.

Thank you for that Brett, he said he was going to be on a special bed, I'll ask him if that is what it is. When he is moved in a day or two to the Wound Hospital he will have his phone and I will be able to ring him. Very grateful for the replies.
