Now what's up with that famous speech everytime I go to the doc? "Oh don't worry John, you can walk again, just believe in yourself and one day you can go back playing football and sports just like your old self..blah blah blah." B) pisses me off what the hell, oh yea I believe in myself, but hey what's this? The wheels are still here! :D dorks that don't know what their doing, trying to make me feel better. WELL IT AIN'T  :ranting: :soapbox: WORKING!

Bring it on suckers :boxing: I may be crippled, but those martial arts skills are still in me.

A few days ago I had to go and get some pet food. The shop I use is situated on a big industrial estate with quite a big car park. There are no disabled parking spaces but is never usually a problem.
As I pulled in I was suprised to see 6 HGV (International 8 wheelers)parked at the opposite side of the car park away from the shop. The car park was otherwise pretty empty. I parked in my usual spot, on the end of the row so I could get out without another car parking next to me.

I get the chair out and am about to get onto it when one of these lorries decides he wants to leave. He pulls forward with the thought of driving round me. I can see he cant get round but to make his point he gets to within 6" of the car door and chair. Then he sits there. I ask him if he wants me to move. He gives me a thumbs up (He's foreign) . I get everything back in the car :mfrlol: and move forward to the shop front (taking 2 spaces so I don't get blocked in).
I get out again. He doesnt move. I spend 20 minutes getting what I need. I return to car. He's still there :boxing: I leave car park. He hasn't moved.

So... why did he ask me to move??? I can only think he was bored and wanted some entertainment.

My energy is finite, and with low blood pressure getting in and out the car really tires me out. So that little performance had me steaming all the way home :soapbox:

Hi..

They found this SO funny, spent about 20 min in fits of laughter about me being gaffa taped to a boogie board and how STUPID i would look trying to water ski sitting down trying to do these things...i offered to show them jlo's myspace but they thought the whole thing was hilarious :drunk: i was just really dissapointed...just once they could try and be supportive, i did all this efore the accident, why not now???
sorry, i had to get it off my chest :drive:

:doctor: Gosh, juls...that's got to be one of the most offensive things I've heard in a long time. I'm sorry you had to endure this kind of behavior, especially from those who we most often seek support: our families. What were they thinking?

With all due respect to your family....they need to be taken to school! I genuinely hope their reactions don't discourage you from pursuing what you want to do. I admire your willingness to reclaim your life, and for what that's worth, I support you 100%! :yikes:

Juls.. don't you dare give up. Point 'em in my direction and I'll show 'em what us girls can achieve. Since breaking my neck I've.......learned how to drive a pony and trap (and look after own pony)
been ski-ing
been abseiling
been canoeing
learned how to sail single handed
been ballooning
got my pilots licence
become a silver C glider pilot
soloed a microlight
passed my Advanced driver test

Im sorry Ive banged my own drum here but Juls you have to tell them to back off and give you the chance to live your life to its full extent! :P

Juls - go out and learn water skiing or other sport, without telling your family, and when you're good/confident enough, drag them out and show them! I bet they'll be so proud of you then!

Use this sort of anger to drive you - not to destroy you!

I went paintballing the other day! It was fun but, of course, I had to defend the base etc, but it was a good laugh. My mates didn't think I'd be up for it, until one got shot between the eyes in the first game! They then realised I could shoot straight and in the second game they targetted me, and boy... my head is bruised! lol

I only did it all because three men REALLY PISSED ME OFF. I just wanted to prove the point that my life was worth living, that I could still do better than some AB (less than 1% of the population is a pilot)and that hell would freeze before I learn to knit!!

So Please don't feel bad, it was a very personal challenge. :P

Agree! Thankfully there are countries outside the U.S. that are conducting Stem Cell Research. A presidency only lasts for so long, and thankfully George's time is almost up. I really hope we get a new president that represents the majority of people and backs the research. P.S., Alin, I hope you don't mind me summing up your quote with multiple :ranting:. Seemed appropriate enough.
