I just felt the sorrow for the men and women that lost their lives. Even for the survivors, imagine re-living that event over and over.

The time was just after 3pm local time when the news started breaking on the TV.
I stopped what I was doing and just watched in total disbelief. I sent an SMS to a friend who works for an American company in the UK telling him to switch the TV on. Then I just sat and watched in horror as the second plane hit. When the towers collapsed I went cold to think what those people went through.
One memory I just cant erase was a view from one of the helicopters towards the North tower and a lone person was leaning out of the window waving what I think must have been his shirt.
I truely hope that the "perps" burn in hell and may anyone else thinking of doing the same...experience the burning pins and needles I feel in my legs!!

I've been watching recent documentaries etc and am sure we all feel the same - this was terrible. However, I kinda question the sense of making this a "big" day to commemorate as this only fuels the terrorists and gives them the motivation to do it again - now that they know how much it hurt, they'll want to do it again, or bigger. Should we react in a totally opposite way, like it didn't matter (a bit like how we Brits reacted to the IRA bombs)?
I hate the idea of bringing pleasure to the terrorists - as we commemorate, no doubt they'll be celebrating...

i went to rememberance things and even funerals of people my dad had known who died for months afterwards. There were collection tins and everything afterwards. And i've not yet failed to do a two minutes silence every 9/11 since.

Watching the replay of the coverage on that day, I sat and wept. In a way, I think it's hitting me harder now than then....there just wasn't a place in my brain for it on that day.
One thing I noticed while watching the replay of MSNBC's news coverage from 9/11....at 10:35 am, there's a shot of the skyline from across the water, and as the smoke is billowing up, the image of a huge human eye forms in the smoke just to the right of where the towers had stood. It's very detailed, showing the eyebrow, lids and the iris and pupil. Very eerie.

I've wondered the same thing too, Dave. I'm sure it grates their butt that their act of terrorism has created heroes here...the firemen and those who prevented the one plane from hitting its target, as the terrosists are so keen on martyrdom themselves.

Also if there is anybody in this forum who plays guitar, maybe you can figure out the chords on the song. I've tried the web only to find the incorrect chords. And with the vidio I can not see where his fingers are on the the frets.
PS
I hope this link works for you all.

I'm afraid not to celebrate the anniversary date of death, heroism and giving. Good must triumph over evil. The U.S., England and Spain are not the only countries to suffer this terrorism. It's a new day. A new tact has to be taken. You can see what effect 'conventional warfare' has on terrorism in Iraq. It is not very effective (imho).
I don't want the history or memory of 9/11 to get lost by future generations, the generations my father made safe by unselfish sacrifice, as Dec. 7, 1941, VE Day, VJ Day, Korea, etc. has.
God forgive us if we forget.
