Hello all, i have just come back from visiting my better half in hospital(seventh week now) ) and im somewhat confused over what he has told me this afternoon. At the moment he is to remain in bed following this flap surgury(this i understand) he had last week on his bottom and has been told he is not to get out of bed untill they think this is ok to do so. Anyhow hes told by the nurses that there is nobody to do his bowels for him and he must not get up himself. This i find a little confusing as if nurses can't do this then who does do it? You would think that there is someone who is trained in this. A couple of days ago and because he has been worried about this he got up himself but managed to catch the wound and pull a couple of the staples out :( Does anyone know about this training? as im thinking that it would be worth learning this myself in case this situation happens to arise again in the future. He still has to have further surgury on his right hip yet so im worried about this. As a community carer myself im thinking of asking my manager about this training when she returns from her hols but i dont know if this is just for nurses....Any help would be appreciated please.
