Some friends of mine gave me a high speed driving experience with a qualified driver in a Porche 911 Turbo around a local Airfield.

You should of seen the look on the woman's face who was taking the booking when they said I was paralysed from a broken neck as a passenger in a car crash! :yahoo:

Simon

Simon,

You lucky &*%$

Have you done it yet? or give us the details when you have. I worry about being able to hang on and stay upright etc as my upper body isn't what it was :-)

I once did the back to the future ride @ Universal (2 years post) but I found it very hard to hang on and stay upright etc so was glad when it finished but the kids enjoyed it.

Let us know the details & I might consider it now I'm a bit stronger.

I couldn't agree more :P Unfortunately they never found out who was responsible. They had a memorial service on tv for them as everyone was just so devastated that it happened

Sounds like an incredible amount of fun to be in a Porsche with a seasoned driver. As far as vehicles and high-speed are concerned, anyone tried karting? I saw the link off of Simon's page and wonder what the experience is like.

id love to do something like that (if i was old enough to drive!) but no-one would do it with me, all my friends are too chicken to do so much as come horse riding or abseiling with me (but i do it anyway!), let alone swim with sharks or anything.

I finally got around to having my high speed passenger driving experience yesterday.

It was brilliant!

In the end, I went in the Subaru, as the transfer was easier.

I must admit, when I saw the driver, I was a little suprised, as he wasn't a day under 60! But as soon as we got going, I realised this was a bonus, as he really had the experience to push the car to it's limit.

We overtook everything, Ferraris, Lambo's, Aston's, Jag's and loads of others. Drifting around a corner a 105mph was great, good job the car has 4 wheel drive!

He took me around about 9 laps, by which time my arms had no strength left to keep me upright, as the G forces on cornering and braking really throw you about a bit.

I also took the skin off my left elbow and right knuckles bracing myself, but it was well worth it.

If anyone is thinking of doing this, you have to give it a go, as it's great!

This is who ran the experience: http://www.everymanracing.co.uk/ , and they were really helpfull.

Simon.

If you think it was fun riding passenger, you should try driving it. I have a Nissan 350z (Fairlady Z) with hand controls and a 5 point harness system for both passenger and driver. It gets driven pretty hard on a daily basis. I even lead some rides out in the country for my motorcycle club and I end up leaving them in the dust. Hop on over to the disabled motorsports section of this forum and check out what some of us have been up to. There are some that are racing motorcycles, quads, cars, trucks etc.

Glad you enjoyed the experience! I think it's great doing something exciting and fast...especially as most of the time I seem to be pushing uphill at 3MPH, lol. I tried to find somewhere last year where I'd be able to do a tandem parachute jump but no one was willing. Just as well really because I don't know if I'd have had the courage to take the step out of the plane.

A c5 (complete) tetra friend of mine did a tandem jump here in the uk - so I'm sure there are places you can do it if you really really want to. The Backup people may give you some ideas of exciting outdoor activities - I did water skiing and normal skiing with them - and they were both pretty fast.

Thanks for that. I thought I'd read somewhere that it was possible, but couldn't find anywhere when I looked. You've given me the incentive to look again...before I lose my nerve!
