Not sure if this counts, but my cat ignores the "10 second rule" and is on it immediatley I vacate it. Nothing to do with heat because she has her own heat pad on the bed. She never sits on my lap. Funny old cat. :)

Lady pilot, it sure does, cause my animals love my chair, I have two cats and they are the same, but they do like being on my lap also. But I usually have to put a pillow on the seat so they wont puncture the cushion when they start kneeding on it. I feel so bad when I have to wake them up cause I have to use it. So I try to pick up the pillow with them on it so I dont wake them up. I know, they are too spoiled. I used to have a mesh net under my chair and they would fight over it to get a turn. Now I just got a mini weenie and she likes to climb on my feet for a ride. All my animals in the past love it ,I dont know whats up with that?

i allow people to sit in my W/C. as long as they give it back and place it inthe same position they have found it.

my sister especially loves it. ;) some of ex's loved it too.

while i have still used power chair, everyone loved having a ride! ;) my mom liked it too. ;)

it's nice not to treat it as a big deal... then people can see it from more positive viewpoint.

We recently got a new kitten after my 12 y/o cat passed away, and he also loves to ride on my chair. He'll perch on the head rest like a bird, sometimes jumping on while I'm already in motion. Needless to say, the head rest feels like a page out of a braille book. He has already learned, however, to get clear of the wheels in record time. He also likes to hitch a ride when I'm outside in my scooter, as there are several neighborhood dogs around. He hunkers down under the space below the seat where he's nice and hidden, until he sees something he wants to investigate, then it's right back on as soon as he hears that I'm taking off again.

When my dog isn't sitting on my lap, he lays under the wheelchair..as soon as he hears me take the brake off he runs clear of the wheels. I accidently ran him over a few times before he worked it out :(
I've noticed most animals like hiding under the chair if they're feeling insecure...unfortunately snakes seem to think it's a good spot to hide as well :mfromg: :yikes: thankfully no bites....yet!

Sometimes I do, when I'm not in it, friends tend to want to try it out and stuff and I usually let them.

Just only if they have to put it back like they left them, it's either that or I make sure they don't run off wit it!

My 2 little sisters, best friend, her siblings, and my baby sister's entire girl scout troop have sat in my manual wheelchair. The girl scout troop tried to do things like reach a coke from the bottom of a fridge without moving thier legs. When I was a teenager my friends often sat in both of my wheelchairs sometiimes with me on their laps to drive if it was my electric chair. We also used it as an extra seat when I was hospitalized. Never bothered me.

The kids arent allowed to sit in my chair any more (they have fallen out backwards too many times). Hubby occasionally sits in my chair (although very gingerly as he has fallen out backwards too on a fair few times  )

6 or 7 guys from where I used to work have sat in my chair, as I had to teach them how to do something I could, so I decided to teach them how to do wheelies.

I dont really care, so long as my chair is returned to me! Its just not many people do coz my chair is very tippy, and that seems to put a lot of people off.

I do as long as the driver respects my chair and my instructions, "don't try to wheelie down the stairs please." I get a little worried about having rambunctious boys ride in it. It has almost always turned out positive.

I have been in the situation where others get angry at the person who asks. This is a little too overprotective for my taste.

I have sat in my daughters chair, I have even taken it for a spin. My daughter doesnt care who sits in her chair. She will let her little cousins ride in it, they have a blast! I think for the little ones it is educational, they can lurn how difficult it is at times for a wheelchair user to get around in small places. As I said I have taken it for a spin, I crash in to every thing lol! it isnt as easy operating a power chair as it looks.

That's for sure! They can be a little squirrely, can't they? :) The first year I had mine, I put a mark in nearly every door, appliance and piece of furniture I own. But I'm pretty good with it now....it's a learned finesse thing. :)

Hmm I think every single person I know other then my father in-law has been in my chairs. I've even had contest to see which of em could do the longest wheelie. During college I moved into a house that had 5 steps outside and since I was to broke to build a ramp at first so for the first 5-6 months I would just do a wheelie down them and then would climb back up em every day when i came home. Since I was going to college voc-rehab bought me a new chair(mine was 5-6 years old and falling apart) so with my old one my friends would try going down the stairs also. Took them about 2 months before 1 was finally able to do it no one else ever could, yet I did it mulitple times a day and it drove them nuts since they figured they would have better balance then I did.

I always teach everyone how to do wheelies, even my little brothers/sisters/nieces/nephews. I had my brother doing them when he was 3, but only with me beside him where I could grab the footrest if it started to tip over all the way. My favorite way to teach them is to have them go backwards as fast as they can and then grab the wheels and stop, spat every time. Yea I only do that with my older friends, lol not kids and it is a bit mean and cruel but I haven't gotten a laught out of them and everyone else watching yet and no one has been hurt so far.

I have 2 old chairs now, I always get that friend or one of my brothers that wants to race, so I take em to the track and no one has made it over a half lap yet.

I couldn't imagine not letting others set in my chair, as others have said it gives them a chance to see how/what I see all the time, I've even offered to let em take it to the mall or movies or out to eat in a crowded restaurant.

People young and old find how akward and frustrating they can be. And that's just in my apartment. Good eye opener.

Many times my old/junker chairs are the only seats for friends. Some are skittish about using one but soon forget....until they move (voluntarily or not..ha).

My son had a sleep-over last weekend, and I let the little boy tool around for a bit in my w/c. When his parents came to pick him up the next day, he told his dad that he got to ride in my w/c, and for a brief second, I could see the horror in their eyes. I guess the idea of their son in a w/c for any reason was unacceptable to them.

He had a blast though. :P
