Ive had a UTI for a couple of weeks now, but no antibiotics for me at the moment! Im taking a cranberry supplement and drinking cranberry juice by the bucket full, but it doesnt seem to be helping. My pee looks like lemon barley water and smells absolutly disgusting. Like rancid meat. Sorry to be so graphic, but my husband is complaining that the loo stinks... hes right, and I can hardly bear it myself when Im going!!!! Really its disgusting!! I dont feel unwell or anything, but the smell makes me want to throw up. :mfromg: Any ideas how I can make my urine a little more fragrant!!?

 Hi, i always use a disenfectant called zaflora think thats how you spell it ,as it always seems to linger for ages , Most supermarkets sell it ( its in a small bottle) theres also one called Jayes? might have spelt that wrong, but it comes out like tar (yuk)in a tin, but keeps a nice smell) sorry dont know what else to suggest.

Other than drinking lots of water, and I know you're probably already doing that....

Any low-grade fever? If so, you may have to give in and take the anti-B.

Hi Luce

We have some stuff that we can buy at the chemist here called Ural, that helps neutralise your wee so its not so stingy, I know thats not the problem with you but it may reduce the smell a bit too. I think its mostly made of baking soda. There must be something similar where you are. You mix up sachets and drink it. How come no antibiotics? is it because you are pregnant? I have my doubts about this thing going away by itself. Otherwise yeah...lots and lots of water.

When I was pregnant my consultant (proably the most experienced with SCI deliveries in the UK) said I should really try to steer clear of antibiotics for UTI's - just expect a low grade one to be there all the time.

If you are not feeling bad I'd just go and drink a lot (eg 4 litres of water) in an hour and see if it flushes through your system - lots of peeing - sorry for the extra transfers!

Smells, for disinfectant zoflora is nice - but no room sprays - on the not to do list whilst preggers!
