Hi,

Sitting in wet shorts, or anything for that matter isn't a good idea.

The damp will cause problems in the groin area, regardless of gender, and can cause the skin to break down if left damp. When you were able bodied, you had a considerable airflow around your butt and groin, but with you now sitting in a wheelchair, the airflow is non existant, and a warm damp groin is a perfect place for a yeast infection to cultivate.

Can you transfer onto a sun lounger afterwards, dry yourself off, towel down your shorts, groin area, and maybe let the sun dry the back of your shorts off a little before getting back into your chair.

Then, once in your chair, try to sit facing the sun with your knees apart so your shorts dry off at the front.

If you have your own villa though, it may be just as quick, and safer to go inside and get dried off properly and change your shorts!

The last thing you want on holiday is a sore in the groin area!

I'm guilty of sitting in wet shorts after swimming!

I know it's not a good idea and can cause problems for skin etc, but sometimes it's just not practical to change shorts after swimming - at friends house/pool, public pools, sailing at sea, etc.

However, I make sure I have shorts made of that horrible plastic type material that doesn't retain much water - I'd never heard of the quick drying shorts until now. I also sit on a towel so it absorbs as much water as possible.

When I get home, I change out of the wet clothes (which are dry by then!) and make sure my skin is OK and thoroughly dry.
