Hi,

guess the title describes it pretty well. I am a 28yo c7 tetra (incomplete), a wheelchair user who does excercise as much as poss. I have been to the gym and bought some handweights, and my upper body isnt too bad from pushing. my legs are paralysed and quite thin now, as are my arms, but my belly is where i am putting all my weight on. i am a bit worried about this, because i cannot seem too shift it and think it will only get worse. i have heard that central obesity can be dangerous, as well as looking unsightly, and would like to hear what other ppl think. any comments gratefully welcomed.

Hi Tim
Its a sad fact that even if you are not carrying any extra weight you will still have a pot belly because your natural muscle "corset" no longer holds all your guts etc in place!
I have found that I put on weight (straight to my belly) if I eat more than twice a day even though I am physically quite active. So I don't waste my "calorie allowance" on junk food or food with no nutritional value. I eat food stuffs with a low glycaemic index so I feel fuller for longer.
On the appearance side Im not above wearing tight jeans to keep my pot belly out of sight!! :)

A binder will not help you lose the weight, just hide the pot belly (and maybe keep your blood pressure up).
