Swimming is a good form of exercise. You could try that?

Yep, but you'll do about one length per hour :)

On a more serious note, things like green tea are supposed to speed up your metabolism. I've not tried it so I can't say either way, the best way for you is to do it with your diet.

I like tea...that's some good stuff :)

Yea, I agree with that Pink Ali swimming keep my weight off (before the accident and even now) I wouldn't know anything about being in a normal pool, they got an endless pool in the Club and Colonel and I sometimes just go there. It's pretty cool stuff... :)

well, basically i'd say make sure you're burning off more calories than you're eating, but then i'm a teenage girl so i would say that :), but yeah, like everyone else has said, swimming good exercise for everyone, and it burns quite a lot of calories aswell, so go for it! :soapbox:

The only way to lose weight is to eat less, and do whatever exercise you can.

Dont eat out of boredom...that piles the weight on.

Go the whole mile and switch to raw food I guarantee you will lose weight, feel like you can run a marathon (well push one!) and never have bowel probs again, you won't even know you've gone.

ok I have to ask, what if swimming is not an option? They won't let me cause of the inconntinance issue. What are some alternatives?

I joked with the doc and told him my legs and some of my arms have started to atrophy away but my belly is still there. Can I paralyze my belly to get it to atrophy away too LOL At this rate ill be nothing but a belly with a head :0

My boyfriend bought me one of those home gym set-ups and took the bench off that you would normally sit on, so i can back the wheelchair into it and use all the wieghts. I've also got a hand bike, hand wieghts and i do tae boe...you can go to classes or buy the dvd. They do alot of leg stuff but ido it with my arms instead, it's a great work out as it's cardio vascular...........hopefully you're more motivated then me  We also play handball together..it's excercise that doesn't feel like excercise :)

I love tae-bo!!! I used to do it all the time b4 i was injured. You totally just reminded me of them! I'm going to try to find them and give them a try again. They were so much fun, and your so right about the cardio! I was in excelent shape b4 i was injured, and that was part of the reason!

I've been drinking the Lipton's Diet Green Tea with citrus and can tell I'm not quite so "gotta go to bed NOW" tired when I first get home from work (of course that fluctuates with my post-polio and fibromyalgia).

Hi Simon

That's sounds fantastic though challenging!

Does it eliminate the need for laxitives + supposities
too as well as speeding up the process?

Does it take a while a while for the bowel to adjust?

Cheers
