My sister now lives in New Zealand and has been asking of me to go and visit them. Now I live in Beamsville Ontario which is about one hour from Toronto . So any body who has been to Canada knows the area I'm talking about. Anyway my big dilemma is the flight is twenty-six hours in the air. What if you have to go to the bathroom. Do you have to crawl to get to the can or just what the heck to you do.

Also what kind of cushion can you use that would be good while in the air. Myself I use a ROHO High profile air cushion.



Has anybody flown that far before, and if you have what did you do to make the flight comfortable if you know what I mean.

I flew from the UK to New Zealand in 2005.

If I was you, I'd fly to Los Angeles, stay overnight, and then fly from L.A to Auckland.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Los Angeles-Int'l Arpt, 5985 W. Century Blvd. Los Angeles, CA. When we arrived at the airport in L.A, we used an airport phone to ring the hotel on a freephone number, and they had a free shuttle bus with a lift take us to the hotel.

As far as legbags are concerned, if you are on your own, you could take a nightbag to empty your legbag into, and bin it when you leave the plane. If you use intermittent catheters, it would be worth leaving a permanant catheter in connected to a legbag whilst you fly.

The flight from L.A to Auckland was about 12 hours.

As far as cusions are concerned, I took my Jay onboard, and didn't have any problems.
