This tragedy just broke my heart. Especially knowing that it happened to such a gentle and passive people.

Prayers for all those families.

Read that half of the attendees for the funeral of the man that murdered the Amish girls were from the Amish community, totalling around 38. I'm amazed by how they've dealt with the man that murdered their children.

That doesn't surprise me...but at the same time, I'm still impressed by how they can show such a great measure of forgiveness. I know I'd never be able to show the same restraint.

Forgiveness is actually a very healing emotion. A good Mantra is "I forgive and release *person*"

Remember that "Bitterness destroys the person who is bitter, not the person you are bitter about"
If you don't want to die, your life still has meaning.

Absolutely....and not really intended for the forgiven as much as for the one forgiving.

I just doubt I'd be able to arrive at that state of mind only a few days after someone senselessly murdered my child. Maybe later....but it would take me awhile.

There are Amish in our area. They, along with a group of NYC firemen, helped to rebuild the church a block from my house...it was destroyed during the tornado of last Nov. You've never seen a church go up so fast!
