I was experiencing sharp pains in my neck when I turned my head too....not all the time, just out of the blue. Apparently I have some disk problems in the cervical spine, on top of everything else. Up until now, my cervical spine was the only part left of me that wasn't a mess. :) Oh well....and life goes on.......

It seems to be better than it was, though. I started paying more attention to my posture, as I get into some pretty strange positions when watching TV, etc. And I tried not to make any sudden turning movements of my head. Now that I think of it...I haven't had one of those sharp pains in quite awhile now....(knock on wood!)

Mmmm...strange! I was just about to post on a similar note!

Sorry you're in so much pain! I get this quite alot and like Joed says, it seems to be to do with our posture and our muscle imbalance. Have you got a heatpack you can put on it? That's often quite soothing. Massage always helps me too.

I hope it eases soon! :)

My son is 16. He is a C4 and he's been having some neck problems. Recently it got so bad that he had to have a shot in his neck to relieve the pain. (he's a big needle chicken, but said it didin't really hurt.

The doctor said without an MRI they can't see exactly what the cause is but the pain meds seem to have helped alot.
