Hello everyone. After perusing this site - and registering as a member - I find that I may be in over my head. I do not have an injury. I do not use a wheelchair. My older brother is my impetus; he was the injured one. I am here, I think, on his behalf. He passed away in 1990, one-and-a-half years after the accident that caused C2 quadriplegia. I simply want to be forthright and honest about my condition and intentions - though, I honestly can't say what my intentions are. I was somehow drawn to this site and I can only assume the reasons will become clear to me over time. I'm not looking for user validation, just laying my cards on the table. Anyway, this is a great site.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother. I hope you'll feel free to tell us all about him...he's obviously important to you or you wouldn't have found your way here. I'm glad you did.

Welcome to the site, there are all kinds of users here that I have found. From SCI, friend of, family member of injured, or other conditions that have caused the use of walking aids like MS, polio, etc. I am new to the site but from what I have found is that everyone is welcome here and there are some very nice and helpful people on this site.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your brother that must have been very difficult. I hope you find whatever it is that you are looking for.

Sir, welcome to the forum!

Let me take this time and thank you for your service. It's people like you, sir, who keep me going everyday. I was just thinking about the days that I want to enlist or commission after I get out of high school. It would be awesome and it would just be passing down a family tradition.

But now...I can't see me in there. Well I can, but I'm sure none of the branches would want me. Can you imagine?

"PVT GET THAT CHAIR! GET THE DAMN CHAIR!"
"YES SIR"

I have to say, I can shoot better then all my friends can though :dunno:

Thank you again for your service! *Hand salute*

Hi Jeff,

It's so nice to meet you. Welcome to our world. Please tell us about yours and feel free to ask us anything about ours, anything you need to ask, want to know.

But, please tell us about your world, your life, your brother, your service, Afganistan. We'd all love to hear whatever you have to share with us.

Jeff, this is a very big part of the grieving process for you and you still have a strong connection to your brother as expected from your posts. Even though your brother is not experiencing the effects of a SCI now, he did at one point and this was his life for a period of time. I can totally appreciate and understand your being here.

You never know your brother may have a hand in your being drawn here, for he will always be with you. Hope this didnt get too personal and mushy. Welcome and I'm sure we'll be hearing from you soon.
My thoughts will be with you today and all that serve with you over there, stay safe.

A very warm welcome Jeff. Whatever drew you here I hope we can help in some small way.

You must miss your brother a lot to be searching info about SCI after 16years.
I guess that being away from your family in a hostile environment must galvanise your feelings for your brother.
If you need people to talk to you've come to the right place we are indeed a big friendly family.

I know what you're doing in Afghanistan is your job but like John Anderson I salute you and thank you. :bye:
If you don't want to die, your life still has meaning.
