  • Spinal Injury Level / Relationship:T-4 Paraplegic complete

Posted 21 October 2006 - 04:40 AM

Hello my name is Lisa and I am a T-4 paraplegic complete. Let me see if I can summerize myself in as few words as I can.

I am 29, gay living with my life long partner and have a 9 year old daughter. I fell a few months ago from a two story roof and landed on my feet. I walked away from it with just pain and numbing. I went to a rink a dink doctor who misdiagnosed me and within a week of pt I was paralized from my chest down. (yes I have an on going malpractice lawsuit agianst the sob :licklips: ) I finally got the treatment I needed but the damage was done, so I am just dealing what was dealt to me.

I live in Maryland and go to Kernan Hospital for my rehab, I like most everyone here was an active person before my accident and now am tring to gain some of that back. I have to say it has been a long few months.

Well that about sums it up. I'd love to meet people here who can relate and can help me and maybe I can help back while I sort this out.

Lisa

Hi there... welcome to the forum!

Just curious of what the prognosis is... are you able to ambulate at all without the wheelchair?

Hate to focus on the gay issue but since it was brought up... my cousin also is gay and living with her partner who has a 5 yr old daughter.

Hi Lisa, I was injured back in July and like you am hoping to get some returns. I've seen people and heard stories of people recovering a great deal of function so I wish you luck.
Boat racing accident July 2006. Still hoping for some return!

Hi Lisa!

I too sort of "walked" into my paralysis. We all thought that I had MS. I fit all of the symptoms. Then the day that my appointment was being set up to either rule MS in or out I began to lose my right leg and before the day was over both legs were gone and it was too late to fix it. That's pretty amazing that you fell two stories and lived to tell us about it.

Welcome!

Well, isn't this odd, you've already welcomed me, and here I am, doing the same ;) Thanks for the welcome, I think people were either thrown by my nickname here (which means the little death aka orgasm, um, with vampyre, cause I have cancer, its not a topic I get into, but to me, it makes me feel like one of the undead.... IF that makes sense <tilts blonde head to one side and watches in dismay as yet another marbles escapes> or I'm just not that welcome <cries>

Hugs to you, and get that SOB if a Dr., it took 3 years for any MD to take the blackouts/horrible headaches seriously, outside of saying its all in my head.

Of all the words, of tongue or pen, the saddest, are these: "what might have been".
