Hi all. Looking for people that have more expierience with this medicine, as I just started it. I am wierd about medication, the only thing I take for pain anymore is Ibuprofuen, unless its horrible, and then i take tylenol 3. And I take Nitrofur for the prevention of the UTIs that I was getting all too frequently, no matter how clean my cathing process was kept. However, the spasms were getting to the point that transferring in and out of the tub was dangerous, and sleeping was impossible, and they hurt, and I was having falling incidents doing any transfer. So, they started me on oral Baclofen about 1.5 weeks ago. It seems to be working, but sometimes I have absolutely no tone, which worries me, and there are still other times, like getting in and out of the shower, or in and out of my car that the spasms make it such a horrible and sometimes painful process. so they told me to start fooling around with my doses, to figure out when the best time to take however much, but no more than 10 mg. at a time.
this was my doctors advice, the entire extent of it. I'm wondering about any sort of weird side affects, also. I haven't had any, but my bowels have been acting strange, and I'm wondering if that can be related. Also, I have a malfunctioning liver due to severe laceration during my accident, and when I asked whether or not the Baclofen would have any negative affect on that, they couldn't give me a straight answer, they just told me to go have bloodwork done. (does anyone else think my doctors dont seem to know very much about anything???)
Anyway. If anyone has any words of wisdom, please, let me know.

they took my son off baclofen because it affected his liver. he ended up with a liver equal to drinking a bottle of whisky a day. and he became very bloated. 2 years on he is back to his normal self. having said that there are hundreds of people on baclofen with no side affects so don't panic

Well I'm on 30mg three times a day so your 10 should be pretty safe unless you react badly to it which it doesn't sound like you do. I've not had any side effects.

They had me on the baclofen after my accident. I stayed on it for a few years but I did not think it was helping at all. I was taking 20mg 4 times a day. Finally I just quit taking it. It seems with me the spasms come and go but my biggest problem is the leg muscles will tighten up very hard. The only thing I have came up with stretching. I have looked at some electrical stimulation products but they are very expense (at least to me). So at this time, I take no drugs and try to stretch every other day for an hour or so.

I've been taking Baclofen 30mg twice a day (plus another 30mg if spasm really bad) for 24 years. The only side effect I've had and still get is a duiretic effect (I get a 'bladder feeling' and need to self cath) exactly an hour after taking the tablets.
If you don't want to die, your life still has meaning.

I've been in BACLOFEN (60mg a day) since my accident, 8 years ago, I've never had any side effects. I wish I could quit taking this medication but I don't know how and if I should.
