I have a doctors appointment monday and i need some help from you all. I have a medtronic baclofen pump and I am leaking CSF. I had the surgery July 26th and have been leaking spinal fluid since August. Currently the pump is not helping with my spasms can you guys give me some advice on things to ask the doctor when I have my appointment. I should add that I am scheduled for a blood patch to fix the leakage. Do you think I should have it taken out. I say this because when they did the trial on me the baclofen paralyzed my legs and I wasn't able to even move my good leg which is my right leg. Should I ask to stay in the hospital overnight?? sorry for all the questions and uncertainty I am just struggling to maintain good grades and go about my day to day. Thank you all so much, it is such a relief coming here and connecting with you all. Does anyone go into the chatroom ever??

Hi,

I'd get them to keep you in hospital overnight following the Blood Patch.

Stay flat on your bed, and don't get up unless you are wearing a binder.

I would have the blood patch and see how your spasms settle down, don't rush into getting it removed.

If it's a Medtronic, they can just turn the dosage down from their computer, to see if you can find the right dosage which works for you.

This may take a couple of attempts, so don't worry if you don't get the right balance straight away.

Hope the above helps.

Simon
