Hi all --

I'm new here......my husband is a C5-C6 quadraplegic.

We're involved with running a bass tournament for disabled anglers, we've been doing it annually for 20 years. In 2007 the tournament is going to be on the Harris Chain of Lakes in central Florida April 20 thru 22nd. Our tournaments are 2-day tournaments, we pair up disabled anglers with able-bodied boaters for the weekend. One day of the tournament the pair fish together as a team, and the other day only the disabled angler fishes but both partners win depending on how the disabled angler does. We're always trying to get new people involved, both able-bodied and disabled. If anybody's interested, if you can reply to me with an email address I or my husband will be glad to get back to you.

Also, we've been involved for over 20 years with the Paralyzed Veterans of America bass trail, I'm really kinda surprised to see nothing in the sports forum here about that. They have a bass trail for disabled anglers (2 day tournaments also, like I described above) at different lakes around the country. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A VETERAN TO PARTICIPATE. In 2007 the PVA bass trail is going to include tournaments in Georgia, Texas, Illinois, Kentucky, and Oklahoma. Lots of guys travel around and do all the tournaments.........several of our disabled anglers have their own boats rigged with whatever special equipment they might need to be able to use them. The PVA bass trail works on a point system, first prize at each tournament is a fully rigged bass boat. For several years now the overall winner at the end of the year's tournaments has been invited by B.A.S.S. to fish a Federation Championship which gives them the chance to move up to the next level of tournament fishing. Information on the PVA bass trail can be found at www.pva.org and then click on sports and recreation, and then boating and fishing.

I hope to see some replies to this and I would love to get some of you involved in these tournaments. Even though the competition is fierce, a great time is had by all and if you're into fishing, you'll enjoy it.

Ann

I did one of these type of tourny's back in college in southern oklahoma at Lake Texhoma. I had a friend in college that fished tournaments all the time and got me to get into this one with him, was a blast but we didn't win.

Had another friend in college that I wish i had gotten to fish with me in the tourny, He's now a professional fisher on the B.A.S.S tour. His name is Edwin Evers...

I'd love to hit one of these tourny's again as that was about 10 years ago. Haven't got to fish much since leaving Southern Oklahoma though.
