Hi all, this is my first post on this forum and i'd like to get some information/advice from other people with the same injury as me. I'm a 23 year old T10 complete paraplegic. I'd just like to know what alternative ways there are for bathroom usage, because I find it difficult to go out and enjoy myself because i'm always worried about going to the bathroom or is it wheelchair accessible.

If anyone can give me some more info about this or alternative ways they get around this, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I know that can be crazy....i guess you shud just shop around for wheel chair assessible clubs or hangouts then as for the bathroom issue, it depends, do you catheterise? use uridoms? coz you could empty if and when necessary coz speaking from what i have seen in Kenya, you dont come across many hangouts with bathrooms which are wheelchari friendly... But whatever the case this shud not stop you from going out and having a ball

I do try and shop around for accessible places, but i'd just like to not have to if its possible..
yes, i do catheterise but i was wondering what other ways there are because i've been using a catheter for years.
i have to wear a pad sort of thing because as you know, complete - i can't feel from the waist down, and i guess i'm more looking for ways to get rid of the pad.

I know that it's never easy but try and be specific about what you are asking so we can help.

What i do when i know i will be where i cannot cath myself because of lack of bathroom is that i use a ballon catheter that remains inside and then urine is collected in a bag.

that is basically the only alternative for us women and not something I can and want to do every time but for you guys is also the option of condome urinal...that might be a solution?

It is true that to some degree this is an easier issue for males as we are blessed with "outdoor plumbing" !

I use a number of methods. Mostly I self cath using the all in one cath kits, this means I can cath almost anywhere private. At home I use standard hydrolyphic caths and a jug as my first cath in the morning is too large for a standard bag.

If I am travelling such as along train or aircraft journey I use indwelling foley caths with a leg bag for the duration. I have never had much success with condom type caths as I dont have an automatic bladder function.
