How many of you guys out there have a certain part of your body (below level of injury) that you can still move? I am C6/7 and find it completely bizarre that I can still move three of my toes on my right foot (very slightly) as well as the muscles in my left breast.
Why is that? Would've been great if I could combine & transfer the movement of those muscles to just one of my fingers on my right hand (which by the way, all 5 can also only move slightly).

Howdie Tamzin, hows CT? I'm up here in Pretoria.
Relating to how the nervous system connects to the spine I think that's what incomplete is about. I can pinch with my knees and have a little sensation up to my knees but thats just in front. From my lower back I cannot feel a thing. Do you get physio for your hands? I dont know how long you have been but its never too late to start. If it can move you make it stonger.

I get pissed sometimes I wish I could just chop off my legs at the knees since they get in the way, and I cant use them anymore...
We have all felt that way at one time or another! However on the flip side of the coin, with the recent advances in SCI treatment, you would'nt want to chop them off, only to find that 6 months later they can cure you!

Oh i know, Sometimes they just get in the way, I used to be 6'4" tall, so I got really long legs, and there hard to throw around and they get in the way....

Yeah...I can sometimes move some of my toes. Not sure why I'd want to really!
I nearly chopped off my left leg the other day. It bends in at the hip and just gets in the way!

Don't you guys find your legs usefull for balance when sitting? Although they are mostly dead weight they support me when I lean forward in my chair, when driving etc. I sometimes also use a Levo stand-up chair and you need legs for that. I think one would struggle more without your sticks..

Hiya Sasv, CT's beautiful as always! Great to meet a fellow South African... I had my accident 10 years ago - pretty sure physio won't make the movement in my hands any stronger than it is at present. Sometimes when I'm bored, I try to move my fingers and toes but my legs (especially my calves) feel extremely restless/tired afterwards... almost as if I've climbed a steep hill.
