Has anyone with severe neuropathic pain tried taking Adderall? I've been through the gamut of non-narcotic drugs, and my Doctors have essentially told me that there is nothing else I can try.

On my own, I've done research and found the drug Effexor that increased my quality of life the most. I've had some very painful days recently, and being absolutely fed up with the pain I decided to try a 25mg pill of Adderall XR.

The pain that I normally had in my legs was substituted by a mild tingling sensation. I was extremely pleased, and decided to try another pill the next day. The next day went fairly well until roughly 10PM, then the mild shocking and burning sensations started again.

Wasn't until around 4AM that the neuropathic pain was elevated to my pre-Adderall days, and then the severe discomfort began again.

In closing, has anyone happened up Adderall? What is your experience? Have you taken any other amphetamines that quell the pain?

You know cvelusc it might sound off the wall but..... I have had chronic nerve pain for almost 10 years now and I have tried several drugs and to no avail, they either make me sleepy or do nothing for me. I have just grinned and beared it for so long I have just accepted the pain, even thought some days are doozies. I recently went to visit a relative and they told me about magnetic therapy and I thought yeah right....Then I tried it and you know that son of gun actually made a difference. It is not a regular magnet it's called a load stone; a natural magnetic rock. I even moved it in different directions along my pain area and felt those same motions in my legs. It wasnt that much to write home to mom about, well maybe, haha.

I just got it and I use it when its convenient at home, the jury is still out because its so new. But theres is alot of info out on magnetic therapy and of course theres going to be some naysayers but I'm going to try it and see what happens. So far my pain has been eleviated, I was desperat and willing to try anything else besides a drug. I hope someone will have other ideas for you. Good luck!

I am post injury of 8 months. I suffer from the chronic neuropathic pain in my right foot. I am currently on Neurotin 800mg 3x a day. It only contains it a little. I keep complaing to my workmans comp doctor but he will not help. They keep saying that it could be the nerves growing back and just deal with it. In 2 weeks I will start a pain management clinic so I hope that will make things better.

I'd never heard of taking Adderall. Funny my son takes that for his ADHD.
