As some of you know from other posts of mine, I injured my ribs over a month ago while getting my chair into my 4x4 pickup truck. I have to reach down quite a ways to get my chair which I have managed to figure out thanks to being able to rest it on some step bars. Anyways, the problem is that when I go to take my wheels off you know how you need to keep the chair back a bit and twist because the front door gets in the way of the chair... well I think that thats the problem is that not only am I twisting to reach back a bit to take the left wheel off or hold the chair so far behind me to get the right wheel on/of but bending down quite a ways at the same time was the cause of the initial injury. I am finally able to get my chair in and out with quite a lot of pain but at least I am now getting independant again after over a month. I am now concerned though that I am going to reinjure my ribs again doing the same twisting back and down simultaneously. So... Anyone know if they make such a thing to be able to open front doors 90 degrees? If so, anywhere online that sells it or is there a name for such a thing? I am only finding Lambo and Suicide doors online, so I am comming up empty. I am thinking if I had a car this wouldnt be such a big issue because I would just be twising a bit and not bending down at the same time.
Thanks if you have any thoughts on if such a thing even exists. I may just need to hit up my local disabled vehicle customizer, but I dont have very high hopes there because when I was looking for my new 4-point Schroth harness they had never even heard of such a thing and didnt now of any US-DOT legal restraint systems. (BTW... got my 4-point Schroth harness in my truck now and it works awsome!)

Hi
Have you seen the 'pickup lift package'? Lift slides out from under cab, then lifts chair level with seat. Meanwhile the driver's door opens like a Mercedes Gull Wing. Not as high, but would be right out of your way. Haven't seen any of it sold seperately but I'd imagine selling a door 'only' would be to their benefit. Maybe the hinges alone? Never know. Don't recall off hand what the name is...something different like 'Queen Ann Lift'. Whole thing quite expensive! Will try to find some info. Get back to you regardless. Ciao.
