Hi,

Help my wife comes home in 2 weeks and she has no muscle use below her mid chest. She has spinal necrosis from radiation treatment and is not strong enough to transfer by herself. She needs a little help but mostly she just needs someone with her. She does have sensation below her injury.

I have to work and the agencies are so expensive. Any ideas on getting home care for 10 dollars or less an hour.

I posted in another forum also

Hi BRPINION,

Have you spoken with a caseworker at the hospital? Usually they have people who can offer suggestions with different agencies or programs that you might be able to get some assistance with. I don't know what might be available in your state (Georgia?) or county or local community, if anything but caseworkers at the hospital would be able to give you that information.

Other than that you could run an ad in the local papers or try Craig's List on the computer but definitely get references before you take a stranger into your home.

Best of luck. I don't know where I'd be were it not for my caregiver.

Do you have any universities nearby, maybe you could advertise and try to hire nursing students?

Thanks for the responses. I do live in the city of atlanta and there are schools everywhere. Craigs list is a good idea also.

Hi, I also live in Atlanta. I just moved here in Dec. and I love it. I just thought I'd say "hi". :)
