I couldn't be bothered getting a carer to shave my legs two or three times a week, and I think it would be dangerous as well to get someone else to shave such a large area... Do any of the ladies out there have any good suggestions for hair removal on the legs? Also, wouldn't waxing cause AD?

For my birthday last Nov. my mom bought me an epilady, it pulls the hair out by the root, I'm sure extremely painful to an AB person. Worked like a charm for me, lasted about 8 weeks till I noticed any new growth and the hair that did come back was about half the amount. I'm a T6,7,8 and don't get AD so I'm not sure about that.

My Mum used an EpiLady back in the day and kind of passed the tradition on to me (she has this thing against shaving, because of course it will indeed grow back thicker). It does work nicely, but the process of getting it done is a bit tedious, as it is kind of hard to get to some areas. Plus, like mentioned, there's the bikini area to worry about. I have thought about getting laser hair removal done (especially in the more "intimate" parts — it'd just make things easier to do medical stuff), but insurance won't cover it, and the facility that does all that only does small areas.

I'm glad someone brought all this up, I've wondered about it as well and it'd be interesting to find out.

Hi everybody,

There's already a pretty extensive thread about this subject somewhere around here. You could find it under the search option up there at the top in the blue toolbar, but the Epilady seemed to be the best option. That's what I use and used for years even before my SCI. Of course it's much better now that I can't feel it ripping those little hairs out of my legs!!! I know that they sell them new but I even suggested going to eBay and getting one really reasonably priced.

I go to eBay for almost everything and check it out there first including my new sealed Bare Escentuals makeup. I get it cheaper there than buying it retail or from the television. I just got my daughter a new jewelry box for her birthday with anti tarnish lining for half the QVC price from eBay. (Just watch the seller and be sure that he/she has a good reputation with positive feedback.)

Thanks guys, I think I might try the Epilady and get back to you all :-)

As for there being another extensive thread I did go to the search option and could not find anything under "waxing" or "hair removal", so maybe it's disappeared because I can't imagine what are the key words to use to search for what I'm looking for here.
