Barry Corbett was a member of the first American team to summit Mt. Everest. He was also an extreme skier before the sport became vogue. In 1968, he was injured in a helicopter accident that left him a paraplegic. He died in 2004. During his life with an SCI he wrote many articles for New Mobility magazine and was a tireless advocate for disability rights.

I recently came across an article in AARP magizine written by Barry about his experience in a nursing home in Colorado, http://www.aarpmagaz...h/embedded.html. I found it to be a sad but moving article and wanted to share it with other SCI's.

The ultimate question the article poses is should SCI's receiving government assistance (Medicare in the US) be funded to rehabilitate at home or in a familial situation?

Has anyone had a similiar experience? What is the situation regarding rehab funding in countries outside the US?
