Well We just got back from the week at CenterPrcs, and you know how you start to anticipate all those access problems and bathroom difficulties that no one but you will think about when you go anywhere?.... Well forget your worries at Centerparcs! Honestly I think its almost perfect and Im quite a hard critic.

We stayed at Whinfell Forest in the Lake district and had booked an acessible villa, which means to start off with we got our own parking space right outside. The villa itself was lovely and spacious with nice wide doors, I was provided with a clinical waste bag for all those bits and pieces and the kitchen had low level work surfaces. Everything was reachable and accessible. Again the bathroom, nice and spacious, and with an extra shower and chair, more like a wet room. What amazed me the most was there was even an electically adjustable bed s standard which was brilliant for getting p in the morning. I really need a rocket these days!

To get round the village there was a minibus for 'special needs' guests, which you could order anywhere, took about 10 mins to turn up and would take you anywhere round the site. Loads of activities were accessible and there were hardly any steps anywhere, its all carefully ramped. I even went swimming and took my chair right to the poolside.

The staff were excellent, couldnt do eough and we are all really chilled out!

So Id say a huge gold star to Centerparcs who managed to provide excellent fascilities, that were both disability and family friendly, How rare is that!

And yes we are going at christmas!!

I've been there with the family and would echo Lucy's comments. We had a great time and I've since also done centre parcs at sherwood forest who were great too.

Lucy have they got rid of the huge thresholds at the doors to the villa's now? - when we were there it was a 3" threshold with a 45 deg triangular block of wood each side. Not an issue for me but it was awkward.

You forgot to add that you get an extra bedroom for free with the disabled villa's too.

Yes, pre SCI and I remember it as being very very hilly. If you're looking to strengthen your arms it's probably a good place - if you want a holiday I'd suggest one of the others.
