I met Flip Wilson at the Marriott back in the early 90s. Was a big thrill for me as I was a huge fan of his growing up. I was in the bar with a friend prior to a Blazer's game during the playoffs and my friend said "HEY isn't that Flip Wilson?". So I approached him at the bar by wheeling up behind him and said ... "Excuse me, do you have a friend named 'Killer'?" He laughed and then joined us for a drink and later came back to have dinner with us before he headed off to the Blazer game. He joked about removing the passenger seat in his sports car so he could take me to Calif. (I had never been there at the time). All in all it was a fun experience but I was a little disappointed as his ego seemed to have the best of him. He even tried to stick us with the bill for his appetizers if you can believe that!!
I'm not a star-struck person but it was fun to meet the real "him". I was sad to hear of his passing as well.

I met the entire Dodger team in the 80's....Tommy Lasorda, Fernando Valenzuela, Steve Sax (sat on his lap ;) ), Ron Cey (caught his foul ball during a game and had it signed), and rode up in the elevator with Steve Garvey...he sang a song to me. I also met Vin Scully, announcer.

While at Shriner's hospital in St. Louis, the Cardinals would often come and visit the kids. I met a bunch of them, but I remember someone called (Jose?) Cardinale...accent on last syllable...sometime in the late 60's, early 70's.

I'd love to meet Willie Nelson!

I had an invitation to one of QE11's tea partys, but I declined the offer - I was kind of indisposed at the time ;)

I'd love to see Jasper in real life. I will never forget a long tale he told about getting arrested in Jersey for being drunk and at the cop station when asked his name he replied "Jasper Carrot".. and the cop yelled at him "are you trying to be a comedian?"

BTW I was stationed near Nuneaton a long time ago.

Oh God, that reminds me - Met Jimmy Saville (who hasn't who'd been in stoke mandeville for any length of time) - He asked my mates wife if he'd seen her in a porn movie! and the kids thought he was just plain strange. Heart of gold but eccentric doesn't cover it.

And no never did get one back off HRH

We do a big flower show in the UK where loads of celebs like to got to on a special VIP day so have seen loads there from Ringo Starr (he is so small), Simon Le Bon, Cliff Richard, models, actors (Pierce Brosnan - swoon), TV presenters (Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen, Alan Titchmarsh, Deirmuid Gavin), sports personalities to all the Royals etc. - infact I've tripped Prince Charles up over my wheels. We had a lovely giggle together and he is very dashing & got the most sparkly bright blue eyes!

But to tie it down a bit further these are some who have been actual customers of ours - and we've got real money out of!

Micheal Caine - at least 3 times - he buys shoes off us - he has got big feet!! (not many people know that!! :-) )
Princess Micheal of Kent
Bill Oddie
Kirsty Wark
Wendy Richards (Pauline Fowler)
Frank Muir (now dead)
Amanda Burton
Antonio Carluccio
Helena Bonham Carter
Sophie Grigson

And out of work, I crossed pathes with a heart throb - Roger Taylor - he walked past my van when we were getting out of it - it was dark and yes, he was wearing sunglasses (like all rock legends), but he had 2 minders with him. We were off to see him at a gig at a student union in Manchester in the late '80's. My sister got soooooooo excited she screamed and he just looked at her and laughed. Was funny, honest.

ok... i've met rita marley [actually worked on organising her concert in budapest] and yeah smoked a weed with her and her band. ;) but what a shit she didn't brought jamaican shit with herself, but asked us to provide it. ;) also met paulo coelho in moscow [he sells the most of his books there and tours russia often]. marko milosevic [son of our late/ex-president slobodan milosevic]... funny thing is i couldn't recognize him. we were flying together from kazakhstan to russia. our common friend flew too. we all chatted. the guy looked familiar to me. ;) and a lot more... i'll write later.

work-wise i've met many of them. celebrity designers like karim rashid, chuck sperry, mirko ilic, javier mariscal, milton glaser, douglas bowman, ... also met thomas knoll, the guy who developed photoshop.

i know many famous people but i really don't care who's famous and who's anonymous.

Chris, the other guy in the photo, is also a pilot (broke his back in a flying accident) and he had a little plane suitable for 'crips' to fly. Sir Harry was doing a show at the Muckleburgh war museum in Norfolk and we were invited to be part of the show. Great fun and I got his autograph!

I've got a few. During college, I worked at a high-end steakhouse in Tucson, AZ and had the distinguished pleasure of serving dinner to the following: Sugar Ray Leonard, Ken Starr, Jennie Finch (USA Softball), Lute Olsen (UA Basketball coach and unofficial mayor of Tucson), Luke Walton and other UA basketball players, Bob Walkup (actual Mayor of Tucson), Larry McMurtry (author, Lonesome Dove and Oscar winner for adaptation of Broke Back Mountain), and Stephen Colletti of MTV's Laguna Beach. Oprah was supposed to make an appearance, but evidently it was a ploy and she had reservations at 6 restaurants that evening.

Also, in traveling, I've shared flights with NFL coaches Mike Holmgren and Mike Ditka. My coworkers like to joke about my crappy cell phone pictures.

Lech Walesa, Bronislaw Geremek, Arturas Zuokas, Vytautas Landsbergis, John Howard, Russell Crowe, Colin Powell, Xanana Gusmao, John Hannah, Franka Potente... I don't have any shame in cruising up to someone and just saying hello and shaking their hand, the most recent person was the historian Yehuda Bauer, that was a pretty special experience for me... apparently I met someone from CBBa couple of years ago but I didn't recognise who they were, that was pretty funny...

I don't think I know 95% of the people you guys have mentioned.

I don't get all fan like when I see a "celebrity." But I was pushed down a aisle real fast in the Paris Casino in Las Vegas by Tommy Lee years ago. People were gathering around him taking cell phone pics. I saw him, thought "hey its Tommy Lee", and went on around the small crowd. Going on my way then all the sudden I am being pushed real fast and he is asking me where I want I to go. I held on real tight and said his house for those huge parties he has. He said sorry, he wasn't going there tonight, he had a show to put on. That was about it and on he went.

He really is. He told me all about his dogs and asked about Sophie and just chatted. It felt like we had known each other a long time. I felt more comfortable then than I had throughout the whole hospital/rehab experience. What I thought was great is that he didn't come in through the hallway that led right to the area where he was going to talk like everyone expected. Instead he came from behind everyone and made a point of talking to everyone who was sitting on outside of the rows and who were sitting in front where I was. Even when he was finished talking he waited around and took his time and spoke to everyone who wanted to talk to him, and actually took his time and had a real conversation with everyone!

This is going to sound so snobby, but i went to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen!!
My father in law was receiving a CMG so we all trundled down to Buck Pal to chill out with her Maj!

Apart from that im pretty lame with being able to name drop, although i do like the fact that the James Bond film, The World is not Enough was based on my boyfriends family and their life in Azerbaijan around the oil world.
Although my sister in law did not really kill her father, but he was in charge of the CBT pipeline!
This meant that my boyf got to meet Pearce Brosnan and Sophie Marceau.
(doesnt really count though does it!!)

just some palace proof!! lol

Okay, we are going from one end of the class spectrum to the other after Becca's visit to the Queen. We had a ball backstage with my cousins, country/rock band Kentucky Headhunters, during their Grammy Award winning period.

Music Video

I also ran into John Mellencamp a couple of times down at the Mall in Bloomington, Indiana. He wouldn't give my daughter his autograph one time when she was younger so I told him that the next time he had a new album come out I wasn't going to give her the money to buy it. He gave his autograph to her.

Becca82, you didn't actually say who your father-in-law was! (while I will say that he is the spitting image of Bronislaw Geremek, that Polish politician I met!) I'm not big on the monarchy but what an honour!!!
