I am throwing this out to the group. I personally know it is a reliable product and my best friend who is a Quad field tested it for me. Hope it is helpful to anyone who needs it. Click on link below.

Hi,

Great idea, this has to be one of the biggest problems for a Quadriplegic on bed rest, either at home or in hospital.

It can be a real pain keeping your fluids up when on bedrest, so this has my five star rating!

Here's a bit more info:

Quote

J.A.M. is a unique drinking straw with geometric spline, enabling it to be bent in almost any position. Even if you are a scooter or wheelchair user on the move, this straw will remain in place until it is changed into another position.

This unique feature finally allows you INDEPENDENCE in drinking and eliminates "straw chasing."

An insulated cup is provided with J.A.M. for immediate cold or warm beverage use. Otherwise, J.A.M. is stabilized with a plastic bottle cap at the straw's nut base. This feature allows the straw to twist onto most plastic bottles from 8 oz. to 2 liters.

When the plastic outer straw is separated every four to six inches, the forty-inch vinyl tubing can be removed and replaced. Three replacement vinyl tubes come with the straw, and more can be ordered from ABBA’S Grace or can be found in most hardware stores. The “straw snuggler” is also provided to keep your straw and bottle nice and secure while on the move.

J.A.M. straw was designed by a nurse for a person who is quadriplegic from multiple sclerosis, Since December 1993, Jim (J.A.M.) has found the INDEPENDENT DRINKINKING AT WILL a "GODSEND".

The J.A.M. straw is valuable beyond estimation the first time you are able to quench your OWN thirst and not worry about adequate hydration for hours at a time!!! At day's end, simply rinse the straw (bottom of vinyl tubing up) letting mouthpiece end drain into the sink. It is now ready for nighttime use.

Regards

Simon :D
