Hello C-4 C-5 quad. I just recently was evaluated for a bicep to triceps tendon transfer to help restore elbow flexion. Has anyone under gone this surgery? If so, is it recommended? My goal is to do my own transfers. Not having any triceps strength makes this task seem impossible. Will this surgery help me achieve my goal?

I Let you know my surgeries june 25th...my right arm first- they can also do wrist but mine were not strong enough- they say it works. i have 4 days post op than i cannot drop my arm for two weeks so my outpatient therapist is fitting my chair with a lap board...i'm not fond of that... then back into the hospital...based on bed availability...for 6 to 8 weeks
Life is one long insane trip. Some people just have better directions.

There are two different surgeries. The more known surgery is taking the posterior deltoids tendon and connecting it to the triceps tendon to achieve elbow extension. Since my posterior deltoids are very weak, this surgery would not benefit. The other option is using the bicep tendon witch they take from the upper forearm. I think its called your brachioplexus. They use this tendon by rapping it around to the back of your arm to connect the triceps tendon. this is suppose to give elbow extension with a grade 3 strength or higher. If you Google bicep to triceps tendon transfer surgery, you should be able to find more info.
