Hello All,

I wanted to introduce myself rather than be known by limited posts in specific areas that All may not see right off.

Thank you, Simon, for directing me to the forum. I can already see promising aspects; worldwide participation, informative discussions, kindness and helpfulness, and more. I hope to be able to contribute, but am limited so may be slow to respond.

Quick bio;
As my profile says, I broke my neck in the Army C5/6 July 13, 1990, at 30 years old. I slipped and fell ~6' from the railing on a dock into just a couple feet of water. I was face down, fully conscious of what had happened. The feeling when I drowned was typical peacefulness, etc., so I don't feel a need to explain it.
I was married with three baby daughters ranging in age from 10 mos-3 years. As we know is not uncommon, she left within the year. That was bad for me, very bad.
I developed severe neuropathic pain early on; had a shunt put in to relieve syrinx pressure ~1 year post; have both colostomy and urostomy to relieve symptoms of severe neurogenic bowel and bladder that extremely exacerbated neuro pain; and the list goes on.
I have managed to live alone with caregivers coming in morning and night. My current caregiver has been with me for 10+ years, which is great - she has her own home. We get along extremely well.
I've bred and raised Rottweilers since getting hurt, and pit Bulldogs prior to that. I am a nice guy and my dogs have always been so, also. I am currently phasing out the Rottweilers in favor of Black Labs, with a new 7-week-old puppy arriving April 21. I'm stoked!

I hope to be able to contribute, but am limited so may be slow to respond. Thanks for understanding that.

Thanks for having me!

HOWDY AND WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trail-Boss is my husband(C3,C4) and I am Stick-Tight. We also used to raise dogs, Basset Hounds. Now we are really big in the horse business, reg. paint horses. We no longer break 'em, but we are focusing more on the right bloodlines and selling the young ones. We love the outdoors and Trail-Boss loves hunting. We are hoping that this fall will be his first time back out there since his injury(Jan. 2006). Hope to be talking and hearing from ya more.

!!!THANKS FOR THE WELCOME!!!

I spent the last couple nights roaming the forum getting to know you guys better. I'm going to post on some of the older threads, also, so watch for them. Especially the guy who was looking for help with a lighter. I'm a country/mountain guy and have not been without Zippo and pocket knife and my own dogs since age 10.

Yes, Sandy, those are my beautiful daughters. Long story short, they make me proud!

lune14 - I've lived in the Beautiful Columbia River Gorge all my life (except 77-90 in the Army). Here is a picture of the area I found online; Vista House looking east: http://www.photo.net...-gorge-49.4.jpg
Where bouts are you located?

Stick-Tight - I like your name and attitude. Do you have any pics of your Paints posted? Beautiful horses. My youngest used to ride trails with her friends on a quarter horse I got for her in her pre-teens. This was at her mom's house and she would show me where they went on my computer. Great stories. She did 4-H, also. I hope your Trail-Boss is able to go hunting as planned. I live out in the country too and used to go shooting in my power w/c at a rock pit a couple miles down the road. Got some strange looks with my AR-15 on my lap and a Rottweiler on my arm. Too much for me anymore.

Great to see all you dog people! I couldn't live without them. I also raise Chihuahuas for my daughters. The latest is 1/4 Boston Bulldog and thinks she's a pit Bulldog. I have TONS of dog pics and stories from a lifetime of raising and breeding and playing.

This is my Boxster puppy, and parents. Check out those ringneck mallards they plucked out of the water! The sire is actually a very dark chocolate and the mom's yellow, so the puppy will throw different colors too. Looking forward to a female pup and litters again. (Please let me know if these files are too large)

EDIT: Is there a reason my pictures keep disappearing? Anyone? Thanks In Advance!

Nice looking Rott pup there Jo'. Great memories, the Lab won't have the head but he's got a great attitude so far. Sure hoping he'll replace my Rottweilers okay. I miss them big black... er, bastards lol. Damn good dogs, misunderstood.
Great to meet another dog person. :crytch:

Thanks Matt...just wondering if you raise your dogs solely verbally as I do, or ...?

Your 'cute as' Lab will replace your Rottweilers okay...it's all in the training as you know.

Good luck Jo'
