Hi Everybody!
OMG...it's been a while and it's time for a reality check!
You know just when you think that you have it whipped, that you are in complete control, that you've found the answers and you can live it and live with it...me and Oprah fall off of the wagon!
It's true. I've gained a size. Shortly after my size 18 milestone and feeling quite cocky about it, I started indulging from time to time. I simply didn't stick to my points. When we were out going places and doing things, I wanted an ice cream cone too. I wanted some of the appetizer. I wanted to try the newest food craze at whatever festival or event we were attending. Now as I've said before, that's okay as long as you figure and plan with those 35 flex points
My problem is and always has been that a little doesn't satisfy me. It only makes me want more. I made too many really bad choices.
But here I am, at the beginning of another new year living life in this chair and that's what I have really started learning how to do...live life in this chair instead of just sitting in it.
Anyway, I just wanted you all to know that we all fail from time to time. Every day is not perfect. Every day is not easy but every day is a day to try to make it better than yesterday. A size isn't the end of the world and tomorrow is a new day.

Dinner is my problem. I am totally happy with my portions at breakfast and lunch. I WANT to eat to much at dinner.
So, during this 2 week period so far of trying to climb back on that moving wagon of weight loss, I've looked for some tricks if you will. I again turned to Progresso 0 Points soup. If I have decided not to eat what the rest of the family is eating or if I haven't decided exactly what it is that I do want to eat for dinner, I heat up a can of Progresso 0 points soup and eat it while I am cooking.
Now sometimes as I've said before, I will make the soup my meal by adding extra veggies and I generally keep 2 oz. portions of left over roast beef and chicken in the freezer which I will also add. But, for the past couple of weeks I have used the warm soup (without any additions) to kind of curb my appetite before I actually eat my evening meal. And it has helped. They say that it takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to let your head know that you aren't all that hungry so using the soup ahead of my meal really does make a difference.
The second thing that is helping me is that I want dessert. I want sweet stuff. Last night, for dessert, I ate a serving of Special K Vanilla Almond cereal with milk and a banana. Some cereals are like cookies and milk to me and this is one of them and still only 150 calories with fat free milk. It was totally satisfying.
I have no point of reference as far as pounds are concerned so I can only go by my waist measurement which I don't want to do yet after only 2 weeks and the snugness of my seat belt. Yeah, my seat belt is showing positive give and my pants are loser! So, I know that I'm going in the right direction.

I've been trying to lose weight since last May and it's not gone that well. I count calories, only eat between 1200-1500 calories a day, work out with weights and a handcycle at least three times a week and try to do 120 crunches a day. I just don't know what else I can do or why I'm not losing weight. I've lost a little, two inches from around my waist. I don't know pounds as I can't weigh myself. It's just frustrating that in almost 8 months I've dropped only two inches. I also lead a pretty active lifestyle. I work, go to school, go out with friends, so I'm not just sitting at home. Sorry, don't mean to be whiney, just venting some frustration.
I'm glad its worked so well for you itsjustme, congrats! It sounds like you're working really hard.

Hi to all of my fellow friends who share this weight struggle...
...and I do mean STRUGGLE. As I posted earlier, I had gained a size through last fall and the holidays but as I also said I got back to the WeightWatchers program in Janurary. However, I have been struggling and I do mean STRUGGLING. I have just been consumed by food and cravings and even when I applied my rule of really filling up with lots of 0 points foods I was still craving. Now there is a huge difference between being hungry and craving. And, I mean to tell you that I was just "Jonesing" for sweets.
My caregiver noticed the difference and we discussed what in the world is different. Do I need to go to the doctor? I do have a slow thyroid and am on medication for it but maybe it's still out of whack. But, am I doing something different?
I have. I missed coffee. I want mine with too much sugar and cream. I also went through a difficult time with excruciating headaches because I was using so much of the artificial sweetener aspartame so the doctors told me no more. Then came the new Splenda sweetener and last fall and even though it caused me to have some headaches I started drinking my morning coffee again. Then a few weeks ago I found the new Stevia sweeteners, a natural sweetener made from the Stevia plant from South America rather than a chemical. it smells like Cotton Candy.
I read an article online one time that even one artificially sweetened beverage a day could have an effect on your body in that the sweet taste followed by no calorie content sort of confuses your brain and body. So we decided to do without the morning coffee full of artificial sweeteners. (I'm sitting here trying to sip on a cup of black coffee...YUCK!) and oh my gosh! The very first day I noticed a difference. I've been artificially sweetener free for a week now and the little monster inside of me that was screaming to be fed is gone. I mean GONE.
I'm sure that any doctor would questiion the validity of my findings but I'm convinced. Could the use of artificial sweeteners be sabotaging your weight loss struggle? If anyone else has found this to be true please tell us about it.

Hi Everybody and thanks for the good wishes,
Texaswheelz, I agree, I wouldn't get much out of going to the meetings either and as I said in my above post 2 very nice Freecycle ladies shared their info with me which I am more than willing to do if any of you would like to email just as soon as we can get the file to send (having a little email trouble). However with that said I have a grandson who must be over 400 lbs. and I think that the support, encouragement and actually learning the program would help him in the beginning. I'm trying to help him but I just don't think that it's the same. He doesn't have a basic understanding of calories and I've tried to tell him that just because it says "healthy" on the package doesn't necessarily mean that it's a good weight loss choice. He needs some guidance.
I know that we are talking "points" but WW is actually just a basic well balanced diet of exchanges almost like a diabetic diet but there's nothing that you can't have. Just count the points. What I eat for 24 points a day is just about 1200-1500 calories with 35 flex points a week to use split up, on the weekend or not at all.
I've used the book to figure out how many points my favorite sandwiches have, and my favorite meals for that matter, how much of what I can have and still eat what I want.
I never drink my points. I'd rather have food. I stopped drinking pop several years ago and I just drink water all day long.
We were out shopping today and we ate lunch out and I still have 14 points left for supper.
I weigh my meat at home, and I measure the points foods. I don't cheat. But the veggies are all basically free foods so you don't have to weigh or measure. I crunch on baby dill pickles and tiny sweet baby carrots (both free) with sandwiches instead of chips. It works for me. Canned baked beans are only 2 points for 1/2 cup and an ear of sweet corn is only 1 point. If it's good corn I eat it with salt, no butter. I'm just finding little tricks, little ways here and there that are satisfying.
And, finally, above all, I usually think that I am still hungry when I finish eating my portion but 20 minutes, a half hour later and I realize that I am actually full. That's always what got me in trouble, eating until I felt full in the first place.
I'm not "advertising" WW as such. I just think that it's a good, no gimmicks, no high this or low that, kind of food plan that is manageable and easy to live with. And if someone like me in this chair can lose the weight that I've lost thus far without struggling and without going hungry, I just think that it's a good option for anyone dealing with with the weight issue.
