I need a doc that deals with sci in indiana ASAP! I have a pain management doc that is basically experimenting on me. I'm afraid he may do some damage. Any info is greatly appreciated. My main issue is intense back pain. I've been injured since 1989 and have had the pain for about 2 yrs. A web search netted no help.

TYIA,

Hi Brett,
I am so sorry to hear your in such pain. I know the feeling because I have such back pain. I do see a Pain Specialist and I get trigger point injections and they help. I get big knots in my back from all the pulling and transferring and the trigger point injections really help. They don't help the rods but they do help all the other pain. My doctor has put me on a new medicine called Avinza and it helps better than any I've taken so you might want to ask your doctor about it. It is a narcotic but it helps. Have you looked in the phone book for listings. If you can't find anyone there ask the doctor that you are already seeing to refer you to someone else. Its your body and tell him you thank him for what he has tried but its not working so therefore you would like to be referred. I worked in the medical field and no doctor should get mad or upset if they are not helping. Hope things get better for you soon.

Hi all,

Thank y'all for your help. I did get my hands on the number of a spinal cord specialist in indy. I'm still in the hospital so haven't called yet. Trying to get my bowels back to normal after my colonoscopy. I would have never had it done if I knew it was going to mess me up this bad. I constantly have the cold sweats like he screwed up my vagus nerve or something. NEVER AGAIN!! My family kept pushing me cause my dad died of colon cancer.

OK, now my doc wants to try spinal cord stimulation. It's basically an electrode attached to the cord. The thing is, I'm a c6 complete and he wants to implant it below my injury. My pain is in my lower back but I'm assuming the pain is not coming from my spine. What do you y'all think? Oh, I'm on fentinol and delauted for my pain. It seems to work ok. the fentinol is q8hours and the pain gets pretty bad the last hour or two but is basically tolerable. The fentinol is quick acting but only lasts about 2 hours. The delauted holds down the pain ok.

Thanks again for your help and well wishes.

Hi Brett,
Glad to hear you found a specialist. If you don't feel good about the procedure tell your doctor you would just like to have a second opinion. You might feel better. Hope all goes well and keep us posted.
