I'm a c-7 quad.
I've had pressure sores before.
Unfortunately I didn't see them till they were stage 3.

When I got out of my chair 12 days ago,
I had a rash with white pinheads, in a 3" x 3" area,
just inside my right ischial and my private area.
That ischial was shaved & sewed up 5 yrs ago.
There wasn't anything on the ischial or stitches.
It started on the side of the ischial bone.
On the side of the bone was 3 bright red spots with pinheads.

The same day my supra pubic site leaked urine,
and I sat in urine 6-8 hrs. That site was in urine.
So was the other side, but no problem there.
I had a yeast infection from urine around my sp site,
and had treated it with lotisone. It healed immeadiately.
So my Dr. said to put the lotrisone on my new problem.
It healed the rash with pinheads in 2 days.
But the 3 red spots on the side of the ischial was still there. But lighter.
I stayed in bed 11 straight days!
It has a very, very light pink area where the 3 spots were.
No longer spots, just a pink flush.

I had to get up. Just 4 hrs. Praying nothing reversed.

I know you don't know, but guess for me.
Do you think it was 2 issues. Yeast infections & pressure?
Or the red spots were part of the yeat infection too?

Have you ever had white pinheads on your pressure sores?
A rash all around the 1st sighting of red spots?
The pinheads on the 3 red spots popped & left little bity holes on the outer layer.
Then the 1st layer of skin came off the 3 spots.
Then it healed completely.

I thought pressure sores opened deep inside then came out to the surface.
Which means the pinheads on them weren't from pressure. Right?
Probably yeast from sitting in urine.
Why not the other side?

How long must you be off a red spot?
Till it's normal? Or days past normal.

Thanks, praying I'll be up tomorrow to read.

Hi,

We empathise with you. Been there. I'm Cathy, wife of Bob, a T12. Yes, we're sure being wet for even a short period has an iimpact. Bob has a condition. Doctor says it looks rosacea but isn't. Can get bumpy and rough and the white pinheads show up occasionally. Sometimes, lately, the area is even swollen. And remains swollen for days, more than a week this time. The pinheads opened eventually. I feared days in bed.

Tried something new. Got comfrey tea leaves from Richter's (Herbs) in Ontario. Made a tea, by bringing distilled water to a boil, pouring the hot ( not boiling) water over the leaves. Cover and let steep for 10 min. Let cool, store in fridge. Twice a day I take a cotton ball and soak it in the cold tea and hold it to the area. I do it on both cheeks as this condition has become chronic and travels from cheek to cheek! I use up maybe an ounce of tea each time, giving the area a good 'drink'. It is now almost healed. Bob has not been in bed anymore than usual during this time. (He goes to bed about every 3 hours for 1 hour. Of course we push this to 4 or 5 hours somtimes).
When I do this a night, I apply calendula cream after the tea 'drink' . This helps to keep it soft rather than rough which can be an added danger. Before this last episode, we use vitamin e oil, seabuckthorn oil, liquid goldenseal, etc. on the area. Changing what you do often is good. Some comfrey tea can also be taken internally for a short period. It's amazing. Good luck.
