Alin, is it because you are 16 years old and a powerchair is like your first hot rod that you think it's the absolute only way to go rather than simply a necessity for some of us when a lightweight easy wheeling manual would be so much more empowering and maneuverable?

BTW thumbs up on the ROHO! I've been on one 2 1/2 out of my 3 years and wouldn't be without it. I never have to think about pressure relief shifting.

Sorry Alin, but you can take your " friggin protocal" amd use it for a magic bullet.

We are all here to help and support each other, not take orders from a teenage power chair obsessed Poll nazi.

How about trying to get something else in your life besides the chair. It's just a tool we use to get from point A to point B.

Your real worth comes from inside not what you're riding in or on.

Sorry about the sermon, you caught me on a bad day.

??? wow... i really think that was not necessary to post that, if you dont like whats in a thread just exit the thread and leave it alone, but you dont need to "heat up" the thread by flaming the original poster.

all depends on the case. see i cant do a manual as i tire extremely easily. but im glad that that works for your case. personally think a powerchair would do better in my case especially since i have the spinal problems and would benefit from specialized positioning and seating. everyone has different needs.

Although I have a brain injury it does not effect my neuromuscular and balance not too much ( a little balance issue front to back but not side to side....but would not prevent me from being totally ambulatory). I have a "spinal cord abrasion" at L2 which means I have a "gross bilateral neurological deficit". I do use forearm crutches here and there, but they wont get me very far. I can get from one end of a room (of my house) but can't get out with out a chair. I have 2 Quickie XTRs both have 24" in wheels & frog legs. My older one does not have push handles the new one does. Also the new one has 5 degree of camber the older one has none. My older chair was not fitted to me correctly so we got plate extenders for it to make it work, my new chair was done right the 1st time. My new chair has a couple of goodies the older one did not:#1 side guards (my clothes love em) #2 arm rests (my shoulders love those when we are just sitting around)#3 wheel guards (I pulled a finger nail O-F-F- OFF getting it caught in the spokes of my 1st XTR). I went for a brighter more visible color this time around too, my other one although pretty was harder to see at night than the red one I've got now, we like taking strolls at dusk through our trailer park and not all drivers pay attention. Next chair NO frog legs for me....you can't just change a tire, you have to buy a whole frog leg system to do so.
Sorry for the length of this post.
*Enjoy every sunset, but be grateful for every dawn.*
*Wheelchairs are made of a special ocular magnetic alloy......they're "eyeball magnets".*
*I USE a wheelchair, that does NOT make ME a wheelchair!*

SCI, sort-of, birth defect/diesase.
I can walk with a walker or cane for short distances, like the above, across a room. But, more than that, I need a chair.

I use a Quickie titanium - it's pretty basic. Seriously, if they made a cardboard box with wheels on it I'd probably use it as my wheelchair.

I also had Quickie GPV's for years. They were great (are still are) great chairs. But you just can't beat titanium.

Also, as a side note. I was one of the first people to get a Quickie wheelchair. When I was three I got my first one from them. Quickie was still based in a quansit hut in Fresno, CA. I wish I still had that chair, it was so tiny and cute!

T12 Incomplete after a hit and run motorcycle accident
I have a Jazzy 1121 Powerchair and LOVE IT!!!!
Tilt seat, headrest, knee abductor guards, removable foot rests and arm rests
Roho cushion- DEFINITE must have!
Short backed so my fat roll will fit better and I can sit more comfy since alot of days I am in it 12-14hrs.

I have a manual chair too but hate it. I dont feel safe in it!

I also just got a new power chair which I don't like! Will likely be exchanging for something "I" want not what the guy thought I should have...thats a whole nuther story tho!
